Six Flags names new president

Grand Prairie, Texas, USA

October 24, 2019 – The search is over. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced that Michael Spanos, the former CEO of PepsiCo, Asia, Middle East and North Africa (AMENA), will replace Jim Reid-Anderson as President and Chief Executive Officer effective November 18, 2019. The current leader, Reid-Anderson, will retire from the company after heading it on and off since 2010 and is responsible for having led Six Flags Theme Parks through an eight-fold increase in market value over a five-year period.

“As a major investor in Six Flags, I have the utmost confidence in Mike’s ability to further supercharge our growth initiatives, continue to drive innovation, and deliver significant short, medium and long-term value for our stakeholders,” Reid-Anderson said.

The 55-year-old Spanos does not have specific amusement industry experience, but his extensive background in global operations could prove vital in pursuing licensing deals for parks across the globe as a new source of revenue. “I am thrilled to join the dedicated and talented employees of Six Flags,” Spanos said. “Jim has built an amazing legacy, and I look forward to the next horizon of growth. It is a privilege to be able to lead such a superb organization.”
