January 8, 2018 – A carousel of park presidential changes is taking place at Six Flags parks following the promotion of Bonnie Sherman Weber, who is joining the Six Flags corporate team in Texas as Senior Vice President of In-Park Services. Succeeding her as park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain near Los Angeles, California is Neal Thurman, who had been the park president of Six Flags Great Adventure since 2016.
Taking over for Thurman at the park in New Jersey is John Winkler, who most recently served as park president of Six Flags New England in Massachusetts for six years. Winkler, in turn, is being succeeded by Peter Carmichael, who was the park president of Six Flags St. Louis in Missouri for the last two years.
It’s a “homecoming” for all three new park presidents, as they rejoin parks they previously worked at. Thurman spent seven years at Six Flags Magic Mountain beginning in 2007 as the Director of Operations, while Winkler spent seven years at Six Flags Great Adventure beginning in 2001 as director of in-park revenue and later co-general manager and Carmichael was the Operations Manager & Director at the New England property from 2004-2015.
Relocating to Dallas, Weber in her new position will be leading the company’s in-park revenue generating departments, including culinary services, retail, games, attractions, rentals, and parking.
