July 31, 2020 – Elitch Gardens is the latest amusement park to join the ever-growing list of parks that have decided to cancel their 2020 season completely. The announcement comes only 24 hours after SeaBreeze in Rochester, New York, made the same decision. Like other parks that cancelled their seasons, both cited uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic as the primary reason for the decision.
In the U.S. Playland Park and Sylvan Beach in New York both cancelled their seasons last month after DelGrosso’s Amusement Park and Conneaut Lake Park announced in May that they would not be opening for 2020. While Terra Mitica in Spain is the only major European park to make that decision six weeks ago.
