March 31, 2020 – Due to the worldwide Novel Cronoavirus pandemic, Legoland New York has postponed its grand opening to 2021. In a statement on their website, the park said, “This move is consistent with the closure of venues and postponement of events worldwide. In this unprecedented and challenging time, nothing is more important to us than the health, safety and security of our guests. ”
The 500 acre theme park, approximately 65 miles (105 km) north of New York City, was due to open, in a predicable “only in America” way, for Independence Day on July 4th, 2020. No date for the 2021 opening has been set, with Legoland New York saying, “we continue to monitor the situation in close communication with state and local authorities. Further updates will be provided on our website, via email, and on our social media pages.” Legoland New York will boast 50 attractions including two family roller coasters.
