May 23, 2020 – Lagoon Amusement Park, near Salt Lake City, opened to the public with reduced capacity and COVID-19 safety guidelines in place. Nearly 6000 guests were the first to enter the park this year, nearly two months later than years past, and while face coverings are a requirement for entering the park, about half of those inside kept their masks on.
Due to capacity limitations, Lagoon has implemented an online reservation system to promote social distancing and avoid crowding at the park entrance. Still some rides and booths are not open, as social distancing cannot be maintained in them. With less than a quarter percent capacity, at least there aren’t any lines for the majority of rides that are open.
