It just seems to me like they've improved their methods of supporting, by using the same materials, but in stronger ways, and such. I don't think you would see B&M duplicate that section of supports on any modern ride (but that's not to say that they wouldn't do it..).
Like how Intamin started using square tube supports for rides.
