I meant to post this sooner, but got distracted and I'm surprised no one else has beat me to the punch.
Last week the park began soft openings of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, but don't rush to the park just yet. My friends who have been informed me that the park still hasn't received the 3D glasses for the ride and are using glasses from Transformers: The Ride 3D until the shipment arrives. Unlike the other 3D rides at Universal Studios Orlando, which use the old-style red/bule glasses, this one requires the newer passive/red-blue combination 3D glasses that the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride at Universal Studios Florida uses.

But the Orlando ones don't use analgyph glasses (red and cyan)? I'm adamant they don't, so I'm not sure where you got that from?

Yeah Orlando's forbidden journey is the only one that isn't 3D (I see an update in its future).

Unless you're trying to say that Transformers and Potter use different 3D? If that was the case they wouldn't let people use the wrong type of glasses?

However it is only in testing at the moment and isn't "officially" open till April? So it's not even constantly open. If you're in the area and want to know if it's open though, goons are using the Twitter hashtag #PotterWatch

Does it make any sense to ride the 3-D versions without 3-D glasses?

My aim was more at the fact that none of the Universal parks use Red/Cyan glasses more than the singular ride?

You might be adamant that they don't, but Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts uses a new type of passive analgyph combination 3D glasses which is why I'm not able to film a video of it the way I've filmed the other Universal 3D rides like Spiderman and Transformers. I tried using my analgyph camera lens and the 3D effect doesn't look right, which is what anyone going to the soft opening at USH will also experience. I was wondering why my videos didn't look the way the others did and had the opportunity to speak with one of the park's engineers, who worked on the rides effects, during IAAPA about it and he explained the technology the ride uses.

Both the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and the Transformers rides use analgyph 3D glasses, so that's five rides at five Universal parks that use red/cyan 3D glasses.

Yeah, I was talking about Transformers - not Forbidden Journey. I've edited my previous post to make it clearer. So they are providing the wrong type of glasses, which work in removing the red/blue portion of the video but they don't show the full 3D effect since they are not passive.
Almost all 3D rides, including newer ones like the Justice League: Alien Invasion at Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia and Six Flags' Justice League Battle for Metropolis, use strictly analgyph 3D glasses. However many newer 3D rides are now using the improved passive analgyph combination 3D glasses, including Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy at Disneyland Paris.
Triotech uses a different technology in addition to analgyph for their rides like Wonder Mountain's Guardian at Canada's Wonderland and Voyage to the Iron Reef at Knott's Berry Farm. I was permitted to film their demos at IAAPA which picked up the additional technology they use and was asked not to post the videos due to the company's proprietary technology possibly being copied.
