I think it may be because, at least in my humble opinion, CF does tend to be more critical and/or not follow enormous trends in the community as you may see with other websites. As we are UK based and thoughts and opinions aren't controlled or directed by Leadership, as you can see with some communities, you tend to see a wider array of thoughts. You also have a huge chunk of people here, especially the "louder" ones, who have been on a large number of rides.

Now specifically zeroing in on myself, I've been on a large number of RMC's and as I noted, pacing tends to be something I'm heavily critical of. Now, as we've seen in this thread, I'm the outlier in most cases, but as I'm "respected" you could say and I've been around a hot minute, some folks may take my opinion higher then others.

Now that's all my opinion and may be completely off base of what some other people think and feel around here, but just my random snap take on your feelings of CF and it's members against other communities out there. That being said, those feelings are the reason I've stayed around for so long as the opinions and tastes are so wide and varied, it makes for very good and interesting discussions.
Well, all communities are subject to mutual influence and the possibility of inching toward groupthink, and I’m not sure CF is so wholly immune to such a thing, but I hear you and take your point.

I definitely agree. We've had those rolling tides of people loving roller coasters along with the rest of the community but not as much as some. For instance, go to an American board and see how many people have their favorite ride as Millennium Force then come here and compare. :)

I do also think we've had a younger group over the years in comparison to others as well which may contribute to that, especially over the last decade or so.

Just had a big trip around Europe myself, which has given a drastic reshaping to my top 10/20. For what it's worth:

1. Shambhala
2. Big One
3. Colossos (Heide Park)
4. Grand National
5. The Swarm
6. Wodan
7. Blue Fire
8. Red Force
9. Smiler
10. Oblivion

11. Wild Mouse (BPB)
12. Big Dipper (BPB)
13. Furius Baco
14. Revolution
15. Stealth
16. Kumali
17. Nemesis
18. Rutschebanen (Tivoli)
19. Avalanche
20. Colossus (Thorpe)

I'm a little apprehensive posting this because I know most people won't come remotely close to agreeing with me on these, but we each like what we like. The Big One places so highly for me because it was a HUGE thing for me to do as a kid and even today, it gives me goosebumps if I catch a front row, end-of-day ride on it. I love the shallow ramp hills and the speed it carries over them, I love the setting and the first drop is my all-time favourite. For me, it gives nothing but sheer enjoyment - I get that most people find it rough and don't like its lack of airtime, but it feels like an old friend to me. Shambhala is a better ride and I had a lovely experience on it, so it just pips it, but the Big One will always mean more to me. Similarly, you can sense the ghosts of holidaymakers past on the National, I find Swarm enormously fun and Red Force is the best 'sensation-driven', short-and-sweet coaster I've done, just edging Oblivion, Stealth and the Rev. Nemesis comparatively doesn't do much for me despite how cool it looks, and I think Heide's airtime-filled Colossos is one of the most underrated coasters on the block.

I won't poke holes in this, but of the list my faves are Colossos (Heide) and Shambhala, and they are at the top of your list. I'd have Nemesis a lot higher, partly because it is awesome, but also for nostalgia like you place in the Big One.
A very unique and honest list.

B&M hypers are certainly fun but I've never understood them in the context of a top ten!

Finally got my lazy ass to Cedar Point to ride Steel Vengeance, so in addition to adding that to my top ten, I did a little revamp.

1. Eejanaika- I highly doubt anything will match the insanity of this coaster. It is unlike anything I've ever experience and I screamed/belly laughed the entire way through.

2. Steel Vengeance- So much airtime, such a fantastic variety of elements, and overall just an absolutely perfect roller coaster. Intense in all the best ways for me! Also going through the structure was really reminiscent of Boardwalk Bullet because I thought it was ending and it just kept going. And going. Relentlessly.

3. Storm Chaser- I had a hard time between this and Steel Vengeance because the airtime on this is just unlike anything I've ever felt. I heard it's back to the slow wheels but when I rode it, it was insane. I adore the first drop as well.

4. Hades 360- This is where my top ten has been quite heavily adjusted. I really love RMC don't get me wrong, but sometimes I see them through rose coloured glasses (Outlaw and Iron Rattler specifically). Hades was just excellent and such a fun surprise.

5. Wicked Cyclone- While it does lose pacing at the end, it's still a great ride. It was my first RMC so I'd love to reride it to see how I'd rank it now.

6. Wildfire- Such a wonderful amalgamation of elements, it just lacks the amazing airtime that some of the others have. Aesthetically pleasing and a great, rerideable ride.

7. Voyage- Such classic wooden goodness, I still cry over the fact that they changed it but it's still a fantastic ride. Not sure whether I prefer this or Wildfire.

8. Boardwalk Bullet- Probably the most pleasant coaster surprise of my life. Had no idea what to expect and the ride just never stopped. Good airtime, wonderful use of space, and a great sense of speed.

9. Bizarro- Smooth, fun, rerideable, and has fantastic airtime. It's one of the most perfect steel coasters out there before the days of RMC.

10. Skyrush- Aggressive and truly an amazing ride experience. I always forget about it when I do my top ten.

-------------

11. Outlaw Run- I liked it but I wasn't super blown away considering the short duration of the ride. What's there is good, I just wish it was a wee bit longer.

12. Iron Rattler- Suffers from the same issue as Outlaw Run! So short, but this one loses the pacing only to get you excited with a second fantastic drop and then send you directly into the brakes. The first drop is incredible though.

13. Maverick- An awesome mix of everything people love in coasters! Great drop, great launch, and great elements.

14. Fury 325- Yay so fun! Smooth, floaty, and has good airtime. Similar to Bizarro in a lot of ways.

15. Goliath SFGAm- Such a great RMC with one of the best first drops and zero G rolls ever. Just too short.

See I'm the opposite, I can't move it down as the last time I rode it, the ride was incredible. And it's been 11 for me so I feel that pain. I'm only actively trying to get to three parks this year, SFGadv, SFoG, and KD for obvious reasons. :D

^ I don't even know where I'd put it. If I had to guess I would say lower top ten but I can't say for certain. Another issue I have is that Storm Chaser removed the fabulous wheels so I don't even know if I'd ever want to reride it!

I rode Storm Chaser a little over a week ago and it was running fantastic (hence why it made my top 5).

I'm hoping my top 10 sees some changes when I visit BPB for the first time in August. I'll have a total of 12 additional credits to get at BPB, if one counts Steeplechase as 3 credits, increasing my count to 54, provided I get all 12! I'll also hit the momentous milestone of 50 credits! Woo! Anyway, I've roughly ranked my present 42 coasters I've ridden up to #20:
  1. Mako (SeaWorld Orlando)
  2. Montu (Busch Gardens Tampa)
  3. SheiKra (Busch Gardens Tampa)
  4. The Swarm (Thorpe Park)
  5. Nemesis (Alton Towers)
  6. The Smiler (Alton Towers)
  7. The Incredible Hulk (Universal's Islands of Adventure)
  8. Kraken (SeaWorld Orlando)
  9. Wicker Man (Alton Towers)
  10. Megafobia (Oakwood)
  11. Kumba (Busch Gardens Tampa)
  12. Stealth (Thorpe Park)
  13. Speed: No Limits (Oakwood)
  14. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (Universal Studios Florida)
  15. Nemesis Inferno (Thorpe Park)
  16. Oblivion (Alton Towers)
  17. Manta (SeaWorld Orlando)
  18. Galactica (Alton Towers)
  19. Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios Florida)
  20. Cheetah Hunt (Busch Gardens Tampa)
But I'm mainly remembering my top 10:
Well, I have to update this list because on 25th March 2018, an unexpected fantastic coaster crept its way into my top 10...
My top ten is currently as follows (the new addition is in bold):
  1. Mako (SeaWorld Orlando) - This was my first B&M hyper, and wow! It blew me away! Before I had the opportunity to ride, I had very high expectations of it, but I kept thinking to myself from watching POVs of different B&M hypers; "What do they [coaster enthusiasts] all like so much? It's just a load of hills in a row! Where are the inversions?" But that first ride on Mako, on the 23rd August 2016, in second row, I was wowed! The airtime was immense, with the drop really pulling me over with an immense moment of airtime. The hills all had an immense amount of airtime too. The ending also provided some nice twisty fun. When I read reviews online after riding, I was thinking "Trim? What trim? I couldn't notice any trim!" And it was so, so smooth! One of the smoothest coasters I've ever ridden. As soon as Mako ended, I just knew it was the best thing I'd ever ridden. Is that what you guys felt like when you first stepped off of El Toro, Lightning Rod, Taron and other highly rated coasters? In conclusion: best thing ever for me. Out of 39 coasters, this is my favourite.
  2. Montu (Busch Gardens Tampa) - It's just like Nemesis but longer. What's not to love?
  3. SheiKra (Busch Gardens Tampa) - I was not expecting to like SheiKra as much as I did. It's such a great ride! It packs a punch, the drops are great, it's quite smooth for a 12 year old coaster and I just adore this ride! Fun fact for you guys: SheiKra is actually my Dad's number 1 coaster!
  4. The Swarm (Thorpe Park) - I love this attraction! It packs a punch, it's virtually Mako smooth, the seating position makes for an interesting ride experience, the theming is excellent and it's just a great ride. I don't really get all the hate for wing coasters, as Swarm is fantastic in my opinion. Although in a way, I am slightly worried that I've overrated the Swarm. I last rode in May 2015, so I may have to rejudge in 2018.
  5. Nemesis (Alton Towers) - Brlliance. Sheer brilliance is what this ride is. John Wardley is a genius. Where do I even start with Nemesis' awesomeness? It's still one of the most forceful and intense roller coasters I've ever ridden. For the first few years I rode, I actually came off Nemesis with a sort of dizzy/light-headed feeling which strangely, no ride other than Montu in 2016 has given me. Also, I love that the ride builds up speed as it goes on and is still going at the same speed it started at when it hits the brake run. It's incredibly smooth for a 23 year old coaster, as well! It does have a very slight rattle to it on some rides, but this is more than acceptable at the ride's age. There are no kinks, jolts or roughness whatsoever in the trackwork itself. In fact, I actually reckon I may have had a Mako smooth ride in July 2017, with no rattle whatsoever. It just glided forcefully along the track! It was great!
  6. The Smiler (Alton Towers) - This ride is seriously messed up, from the ton of inversions to the theme, and I like it! This coaster is actually quite intense, but in a different sort of way to rides like Nemesis and Montu. Rides like Nemesis and Montu are intense in a forceful way, whereas the Smiler is intense in a crazy/dizzying sort of way, if you get what I mean. Gerstlauer were actually very clever in how they designed the Smiler's layout, because every single inversion adds to the feeling of dizziness and disorientation you get during the ride. I have also not found the Smiler overly rough, just a bit rattly. The rattle is more noticeable than on the park's B&M coasters, but is nothing too unbearable. I did have a pretty rough back row ride, however. And don't forget the cobra roll exit. An exit from one of the dive loops has a pretty hard jolt, as well. If the ride is any rougher when I next ride, I may consider bumping it down a few spots, as I'm not a fan at all of rough coasters. One thing I do find interesting, however, is that I actually think Speed at Oakwood is smoother, and it's 7 years older than Smiler.
  7. The Incredible Hulk (Islands of Adventure) - The Hulk is a great ride! I like the launch, it packs a good force to it and the onboard audio is a great touch! An interesting note is that the ride was more rattly than I would have expected from a coaster that had literally reopened after retracking earlier in the month (when I rode), but was nothing unbearable.
  8. Kraken (SeaWorld Orlando) - I was pleasantly surprised with Kraken! It was not as rough as I was expecting and I actually thought that it was pretty fast and packing a good force when I rode!
  9. Wicker Man (Alton Towers) - Well, well, well... I think Wicker Man might possibly be one of the most surprising attractions I've ridden in a while! During its construction, I was expecting a similar level of thrill to Thirteen from this ride, but I remained cautiously optimistic. And I was right to, as Wicker Man is a fantastic ride! It's pretty wild, and actually quite forceful in portions, even if not quite as forceful as Megafobia! The ride also had 2 pretty good pops of airtime following the not-so-boring corner, even though the airtime is not as strong for me as Megafobia's. The reason I prefer this to Megafobia, though, is because; it's smoother, with more comfortable trains; the transitions are much better and more thrilling than Megafobia's and just because I think I enjoyed the ride just a little bit more than I enjoyed Megafobia. Overall, Wicker Man is absolutely fantastic, and it really makes me want to ride more GCIs in the future.
  10. Megafobia (Oakwood) - Megafobia is was the only wooden roller coaster I'd ridden (that is set to change in 2018!) and it is an awesome ride! It's really quite wild with quite a bit of decent airtime. In terms of airtime alone, it's probably second only to Mako, but Mako is in a different league in terms of airtime. One real detracting point from Megafobia, however, is the turns. They are unbanked, so they provide a horrible jerky sensation when the ride turns, sort of like on a Wild Mouse. It did rattle quite a bit, but less than I would expect from a 21 year old woodie.
EDIT: How do I do the thing where you cross words out?
EDIT AGAIN: Found it!

Not sure if I would count steeplechase as 3 creds. As they all essentially do the same thing.

They're three different tracks. Why would you not? It's like counting SLC's or Boomerangs as separate creds. :D
I've looked on Captain Coaster, and it says that Steeplechase counts as 3 creds, as well as Grand National counting for 2. So that means I'll have 55 creds post-BPB!

I wouldn't waste your time queueing up for Steeplechase 3 times in one day, it's a fun and unique ride and all, but that queue moves slowly so you'll be sacrificing re-rides on much more exciting coasters.

Also I've never counted multi-lane coasters as multiple creds, although I can see the logic - each to their own I guess. The Nash is an interesting one because if you count it as 2 then disabled guests can get 2 creds without even getting up inbetween (they usually let them stay on for the full 2 laps). Sorry to go off topic - this could probably be a topic all by itself!

Grand national has a mobius loop layout. So technically it only has one track. Sorry I know I am being a bit anal about this, I just wondering where the line is.

I have never really considered dual coasters as separate credits unless they have different layouts.

I'll just stick to rcdb.
