The Games we play...

Im gonna have to get around to upgrading my pc to play portal arent i?

or buying a 360/ps3.. Decisions decisions..

See that's why i havent got a "next gen" console yet.

I refuse to give more money to microsoft.
But then i dont want to play games like portal on an lesser powered machine with lower framerates than the other one.


I'll stick with wii and upgrade my pc i think
 
kimahri i think most of his reviews are amusing and spot on in a way but i have to disagree with his review of drake as its just nit picking really fair enough all the things it does has been done before in other games but this puts them all together and makes them good dont just listen to what he says cause he tryes sometimes to hard to make things funny go try the games for yourself its an amasing game
 
And how is that so shocking all you have to do is go to his site and there are pictures of him not a shocker really
 
Considering:
1. It was completely unexpected.
2. I've never seen his face properly (ala valve trip).
3. The furthest I've ever been on his website befor that vid was the main page and his games.
and
4. YOU SEE IS FACE!!! AND ITS MOVEING!
 
Anyways on to games and i know im gonna get slated for this but iv never actualy got the point of portal of half life for that matter i think its cause im not a first person shooter person to be honest but i dont really like em same goes for COD4 aswell not my thing, But i can see why people like em just not for me. On another notr i actually bought LOST for ps3 and again i know im gonna get slated lol. But if your a fan of the show its not to bad ye it could have been better but meh its a fun little tie in and any game that gets my mum going "I want to play" must be ok its probably cause its very easy and you cant really die short of walking into a crashed jet engine which i did for fun hehehe. But ye if your a fan of the show and have a bit of spare cash enjoy it its fun, IF you hate lost stay clear you wont know what the hell its about lol
 
I love lost.

The current season has been fantastic! Especially this weeks one.. Which was the best tv episode of ANY show i've ever seen! Soo much explanation/story/twists/etc in one short episode.. Fantastic!

Dunno if i can bring myself to buy the game though... To much other stuff i want to play.

I agree with you about shooters though.. Especially generic boring crappy ones like halo 3 - which was the biggest waste of money ever! And served to prove (to me) how easily influenced people are by advertising (especially reviewers who have to survive on pay from said adverts)

Its a shame that generic fps games sell so well, as that means the games industry keeps making them rather than taking risks with new ideas.

I personally dont even consider "fps" to be a game genre. It's just a method of controlling the game. Most "fps" games fall into the "running around mazes looking for keys" genre. Halo 3 doesnt even have that - it falls into the "running down a pre-determined path looking at scenery" genre.

Portal on the other hand falls easily into the puzzle genre (which just so happens to have fps control method). So likening a game in the puzzle genre (portal) to one in the "running down a pre-determined path looking at scenery" genre (half life 2) doesnt really make much sense.

Not played drakes fortune yet. Really should as it's made by the people who invented crash.

Portal took a huge risk, and look at how ****ng amazing it is. :D
 
I got 2 demo's yestureday

from the Live marketplace

N+ and small arms.

I might thing about getting N+ was fairly good the physics were really good as well

Small arms how every was really fiddly to play so i might pass on it though
 
Bought, played and completed portal yesterday

Found whole experience very "meh" to be honest.

Sure there's a nice novelty factor to it.. But I had that novelty when i played the game it was based on : "Narbacular Drop" a few years ago.

It was okay.. just not the second coming everyone had me believe it was.

And short too.

Oh your just 'so' cool hating Halo 3 aren't you? *claps* because thats not cliché at all..
Halo 3 is all-round amazing accomplishment, games don't sell 8.1 million copies for no reason.

..and as for the Xbox 360, it most certainly does not suck, its a ****ing awesome console, the achievement system alone is a reason I prefer the 360 over a PS3.
+ Already an ace library of killer-ap titles, MSN messenger, the best integrated online service and content.

WOW the PS3 has a better graphics engine, 1080i on the 360 still looks pretty fecking delicious on my 50'' HDTV.
 
What the Hell...?

I don't hate it to be "cool", I hated it mainly because the controls were so dire, then the fact that it's the same as every other FPS ever doesn't exactly help. It felt like a lot of the same of what I've played a hundred times, no lush landscapes, no wonderful cinematics, just a poor, generic shooting game that obviously appeals to everyone lacking in brain cell count.

And wow, it has MSN? Amazing... I wish I could get that on my computer, that would be awesome.

And that control pad, seriously, WTF? First of all it's like holding a block of concrete, and then the buttons are just all messed-up. I think after playing the Wii it will be impossible for me to revert to something as ghetto as the Xbox controller.

Did you read Smelly's post at all?

The only reason it sold so much is because Microsoft raped practically every reviewing facility possible to say how good it is. Advertising.
