Schools in Essex ban triangle flap jacks...

I'm just hoping that "triangular flap jack" is a euphemism, otherwise it's madness!

Yes basically. As the article points out a rectangle or square shaped flapjack will have more angles than a triangular one.

So stupid.
 
Surely the issue is that "anything thrown" could cause injury, so the solution is to actually ban pupils?

"Flapjacks don't hurt people, pupils do! "

Or maybe G4 Security could be put at the entrance to schools with rock cakes or possibly a bath bun (you don't need hardware like flap jacks to stop an insurgent seven year old with offensive baked oats in their possession). It seems like a sensible answer, one thing we could learn from our American cousins who just don't know they're born ;)
 
Surely if a 4 cornered object is thrown at you, there's more chance of being hit by one of the corners than if a 3 cornered object is thrown - the schools need to make their flapjacks sperical, and with an extra high syrup content so it just sticks rather than pokes.

I only hope it wasn;'t a chocolate chunk flapjack!
 
This is not a case of "health and safety gone mad". It's a case of the school being so afraid of litigious action (and being retarded) that they're cowering behind the barrier of Health and Safety.
 
Maybe you should ban students that throw flapjacks?

Although, while this is ridiculous, you have quite a dense way of thinking if you think a rectangle is a superior projectile for causing injury. Wouldn't have survived long in the early ages of human history. A triangle is the ideal shape for something to be used as a missile. :D

Are we sure they've really banned them, or is this another case of the other incidents of banning where no such thing happened?
 
The school have asked the people preparing them to cut them into squares instead of triangles. Not entirely sure of the point of that - it's all just very silly.
 
As I work in a playschool, we jokingly think we should now ban square and rectangular snacks as they have pointy corner.....LOL. We just laughed it off.
It should be down to the child that threw it to be told the error of his ways,.
 
It's not the fault of the person who threw the object, but the object itself. Let's ban those and all of this nonsense will stop, right?

Flapjacks don't poke eyes out, people who throw them do.
 
God Sue - it's all about the angles. a 90 degree angle is not as sharp as a 60 degree angle. One will obviously lead to blindness and the other merely to crumbs in the eye :roll:
