Was funny that they showed them get on the ride but not off it, they are probably stuck on the lift hill lol.

Was funny :)

The one show tonight started with a clip from Pleasure Island Cleethorpes - about how they're struggling with visitor numbers.

Is anyone able to produce a nice compiled list of some good, professionally done, amusement related documentaries? Something that might come from NatGeo, BBC, Discovery, etc.

Travel Channel (Sky channel 251, its also on Virgin apparently) is doing a new series called "Coaster Wars"

It was filmed sometime in the last year and features Rob Alvey, lots of americans and dreadful opinions - but a good watch if you're bored. Current series is on Thursdays @ 8pm, ie, starting now!

Tonight episode includes Dodonpa, Nitro, EGF and New Texas Giant (lol)!

I was at that event, it was pretty good but with only 4 rides open and the park been pretty much dead the atmosphere got abit flat, although 10 rides on Infusion went down a treat

Not a TV program to be fair, but the BBC had a random article on coasters and the future of thrill rides on their site today which may be of interest
- nothing too specialist or that will be news to the average enthusiast, but worth a look – has a few interesting points around costs being the biggest limiting factor against seeing any more extreme coasters than we already have.

So last night my dad and I were watching TV and came across an episode of Mud Lovin' Rednecks (not a show we usually watch but nothing was on) and they had a roller coaster enthusiast that wanted these guys that own one of those "mud bog" attractions to build a roller coaster with a loop and a splashdown in the mud. They actually called and got John Ivers (guy that built a coaster called Blue Flash in his backyard in Indiana) to help out. The "engineering" seemed really sketchy and the track shook like crazy but they got a working coaster built!

Justified had a goon moment on the episode airing 3/5. A character tries to take his kid out of town, asks him if he wants to go to Cedar Point. Says they have a roller coaster called the Millennium Force and its a face melter.

Later, when he finds out he is being tracked he changes his mind and says, "lets head to Dallas and go to Six Flags".

It was fairly obvious a goon snuck in a few theme park references in a show that has had zero in 4 seasons to date.

I found this on YouTube this evening, and it's fantastic! Filmed in 1991-2 it follows John Wardley through the design, build and opening of Runaway Mine Train and The Haunted House at Alton. It combines lengthy interviews with him with comments from others in the industry including a hilariously young Nick Varney. It covers a history of theme parks in the UK and Wardley's career, as well as looking at technological innovations and forward to the future. It covers the thought process behind the designs of several other rides such as Dragon Falls and Vampire at Chessington. I'm pretty sure it also (inadvertently) charts the early life of Wardley's now infamous leather jacket! haha!

Well worth a watch (if only to cringe at the big hair and shell suits!)

Insane Coaster Wars on the the Travel Channel returns Sunday 6/29 (7PM Eastern time I believe). I'm pretty sure Outlaw Run will be among the featured coasters in one of the new episodes.

There is this Dutch show where people can do a certain 'challenge' and if they succeed, they'll win €1000 and a trophy. Some goon said he could recognize coasters from POV vids, so they chose 6 short fragments from coaster POVs and he had to name the coaster, the park and the country.

Here it is (the actual POVs start around 4:30):

I bet most, if not all of us could've won this...
