Presidential Candiadites Sign "Marriage Promise"

Error

Strata Poster
Republican presidential contenders Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum have lined up behind a new pledge focused on social issues put forth by Bob Vander Plaats, a former candidate for governor who now reigns as a conservative kingmaker in the Hawkeye State.

Vander Plaats heads the Iowa-based Family Leader, a conservative group. Signing "The Marriage Vow – A Declaration of Dependence Upon Marriage and Family” is a requirement for earning the organization's endorsement.

Standing behind the pledge entails supporting a "federal Marriage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which protects the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman." Among other things, it also means backing a ban on pornography.

So it seems that two hopefuls for the presidency say they're going to make it illegal for any form of gay marriage, signing a pledge that they'll ban it if elected.

What are your thoughts? Anyone else not voting for them?

I'll not be voting this time around. I don't care about politics.. unless of course Sarah Palin SOMEHOW becomes the Republican nominee.. in which case.. Obama 2012!

That's really pathetic.

Everybody needs porn, banning it would only cause problems. If pervs can't get their kicks from licensed porn shops/internet, who knows what sort of weird cults would spring up.

I think it is genuinely sick to try and enforce religious rules on a state.

The US is supposed to be a secular country. Keep religion the **** out of politics.

Sometimes I wonder what the difference is between the US and somewhere like Iran.

Spot on Joey...

Though to be fair, all the war and misery in the world is caused by homosexuality, and absolutely not religious oppression, so maybe they're on to something ;)
