What's new

"Now Showing"

saw that Dune - Part Two at the (same) IMAX yesterday....

Most spectacular and probably less dull than the first one, but the story starts to get very silly (IMHO) now (not the film's fault, its the plot from the books of course).

And this one also ends on a knife-fight - at least this protagonist turned up a bit earlier in this film than in the first one ;)

"Part Three" anyone?
Oh, Part Three definitely should happen. I loved Part Two so much. It’s dethroned Empire Strikes Back as my second favorite movie (LotR will always remain first).

I never got around to reading Messiah. I guess now I have to…

The Fall Guy
Not bad actually, pretty enjoyable overall. Wouldn't call it amazing, it's not a 'must watch', but I can't think of anything specifically wrong with it, it's just an entertaining popcorn movie to pass away a couple of hours on a Sunday.
Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt work well together, the gags are mostly funny and the stunts are loud and over the top, just as they should be.
Oh, and there's a loveable dog in it.
And a unicorn. What's not to like?

What is that movie even about? I’ve heard a lot about it but I still have no clue what the premise is.

Longlegs

I liked the film, it kept me entertained, but it wasn't this amazing movie like everyone made it out to be. I'd have liked it more if there was less hype around it and people weren't saying it was like Silence of the Lambs. That being said yeah, it was good, Nic Cage was good, the end was good... Overall just a "good" movie.

'cos I rather like them ALIEN films, I went to see the new Alien:Romulus at the IMAX this morning.

I liked it (but not all of it).

Its a blooming ALIEN film, it has ALIENs in it :)
Lead character (Rain) was good
Andy the Android - was really good
World building at the start was pretty good
SFX were generally good (apart from below)

Ash/Ian Holm deepfake - was very ropey in parts - less is more (or it should have been IMHO)
Secondary male character (Bjorn) was awful, the other secondary male (Tyler) was a bit less wooden, but not by much
The Alien-Resurrection throwback monster at the end; did not like at all

My brother went to see it - he said the first half was good and the second half wasn't. Rather like the football match I watched on the same day.

I'm very out of the loop with films, but Beetlejuice 2 is coming out soon - I'm very biased due to thinking Jenna Ortega is an excellent successor to Winona Ryder (praise indeed) but my expectations are high.

It's worth noting that I kind of fell in love with somebody a couple of years ago who was able to reply to 'people tend to ignore the strange and unusual' with 'I myself am strange... and unusual...'

I've seen a couple of really bad movies at the cinema recently; namely Borderlands and The Crow - if I had to choose I liked the former a bit more than the latter, but both were not good.

However, I've just watched (as it was on $ky this week) Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and that was, by far, the worst film I've seen in ages, just terrible all round.

Saw Betelgeuse Betelgeuse as well, that was OK - the first 1/2 was a bit of a mess waiting for some "plot" to turn up but when it did (not a lot of plot to be honest) it got better.

Beetlejuice- I had never seen the original so I watched it before we went to see the new one. I feel like it's one of those movies people will just like because they watched it as a kid. I wasn't a huge fan, and I usually like Tim Burton stuff.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice- It was okay but still not hopping on board the Beetlejuice train.

Joker 2 (and a half hours of Joaquin Phoenix showing off)

I found it equal parts very entertaining and utterly tedious, so that's quite an achievement.

Transformers One- Uh I don't know anything about the Transformers world at all plus I had day drinks during the day before seeing it so I feel like I couldn't focus. Seemed okay and my kiddo liked it.

Terrifier 3- Ha! Some parts were just absolutely ridiculous but it was so entertaining. I love Art the Clown as a villain, too. Some of the deaths were pretty creative and some made me cringe so, kudos because that usually takes a lot.

At a loose end this afternoon, I have just been to see that new Venom:The Last Dance movie. Aquaman2 was probably better.

Gladiator 2;

Well it was all very pretty and spectacular, but ended up as a bit of a load of old tosh I thought.
