Medusa at Six Flags Mexico being replaced?

"As we advance them, one of the flagship games is dismissed Six Flags Mexico this summer, join us to say goodbye to the MEDUSA. See you soon..."

That was from SFM Facebook page, but they say "As we advanced them" and "See you soon..."

So Medusa is closing, we know that, but what do you think will be replaced by it?

^ I'm thinking RMC too. Six Flags is really putting all of their RMCs in Texas so I can see Mexico as the next place.

Medusa is the next in line for RMC's Iron Horse treatment, so it's not really going - just changing.
I like Medusa as is, but maybe Iron Medusa will be better. I just not too convinced after riding Iron Rattler.
Of course, any excuse for a return trip to Mexico City is a good thing.

^ my problem is I think it probably won't be long as most parks want publicity and are willing take their unpopular old woodies and create them into new more popular coasters. It's all about the money for them.

I personally love iron horses and i wish cedar fair would take a hint and start doing them! or maybe six flags could decide to do 2 in one year...that'd be nice...

^Well if that were to happen then woodies will be on the road to becoming extinct much quicker!

Because companies like GCI and The Gravity Group are just going to cease to exist with RMC around. Remember, they're both still cheaper than RMC (as generally speaking as possible).

Giving Medusa a makeover doesn't make sense to me. Medusa was quite an aggressive ride when I rode it, but by no means was it rough. It had a great mix of interesting and exciting elements which use the terrain (it sits kind of on the side of a hill) very nicely. I'm not quite sure why they want to mess with a good thing.

QFT!

Granted, I did ride Medusa in 2008. It could've gotten rough over the past five years. Also, didn't they have an earthquake down there recently?

I don't think it affected the park or coaster and I rode it in April. It still runs great, just like you described.

And for those too lazy to look it up:

Will Iron Horse treatment be better than the original Medusa? Maybe.

Is Iron Horse treatment the end-all-be-all-apocolypse of wooden coasters? No. Just look at my Top 10 ranking, and note the placement of Outlaw Run versus Iron Rattler and New Texas Giant.

Iron Horse treatments are fun, but RMC so far have seemed limited by the previous footprint, not able to truly innovate beyond the original construct. This leads to a lot of meandering and senseless elements on Iron Rattler and NTG. Outlaw Run on the other hand is built from the ground up by RMC, which allows for utterly brilliant and ridiculous elements and pacing.

If it does happen I'll be sad I never got to ride the original. I've always had a bit of an interest with this ride because its so difficult to follow the layout from offride due to its twisted nature and the surroundings. Always a big plus point in my book.

Am I correct in thinking that Medusa has had at least 2 extensive retrackings in the last few years? could be more a maintenance thing if they do move to RMC.

Did you not see his SFM (Six Flags Mexico) shirt at Cedar Point during Erie Expedition in 2008?

I was with him at the Erie Expedition CF-Live in 2008 and we discussed his Mexico City trip at length, but what does that have to do with me quoting him? :?
