Day One

After having been out the night before, with Mark and Ollie (and Imaginary AJ of course <3)

(Snoozing babes.)

and having had very little sleep, an incredibly tired group of coaster geeks ventured out into Chester town center to catch a train to Uttoxeter, in order to get a bus to Alton Towers! But, first things first we stopped off for a McDonald's breakfast. After the most amazing breakfast ever (post drink food <3) we headed to the train station, and ended up in Uttoxeter at about 9am.

The bus arrived shortly after, and we clambered aboard with a bunch of idiotic Notts chavs (I knew they were idiotic as they supported Man ****ty, enough said) and after a 40 minute journey we were at Alton. We went to the monorail to find it was closed, so went back and caught the car park shuttle. We arrived at the hotel, checked in and dumped our bags and then headed back to the park.

We arrived at the park at about 10.30 to a massive queue at one turnstile, and 3 empty ones. Seriously, why do Brits feel the need to queue needlessly? Anyway, we got into the park, which was seriously misty

(cheers Mark)

and headed straight to Sonic Spinball. Which was closed. Good start. So, we went over to Hex. Which was brilliant as always, except the soundtrack whilst the ride is in motion was so quiet it could barely be heard, which was disappointing. The usual exit for Hex is closed at the moment whilst the roof of the green house is undergoing a well needed restoration, so the exit is the one used at Scarefest.

Hex was walk on, as were most of the rides that day, except Sonic Spinball and Air which were 30 minutes and 20 minutes respectively for the majority of the day. We put this down to the fact the weather was terrible, (Drizzle and snow. Fun) which was an advantage for us.

We headed through the haunted hollow to go ride Duel, which has had some work on it during the closed period. The effects in the queue line all work now, a strange hand in a jar has been added in on the shelf above fire and all the features in the house are working much better than before. These changes were noticable all around the park, with a lot of attractions having been revamped and painted and spruced up, which was nice to see with there being nothing new opening this year.

Next on the list was Nemesis. As the queue was so short for front row, we did that as I had never ridden front. It was awesome, as always and then Ollie and I headed to Air. We queued longest for this, 15 minutes. Not sure why we queued that long, but I got to ride back row which I found to be more forceful than the other seats.

After Air, Mark wanted to continue taking photos, so Ollie and I headed back to Nemesis. I neglected to mention earlier that the mist effects are working on Nemesis.

This time, I sat back row right seat. I can see why people see this as the most forceful seat. It just confirmed why Nemesis is in my top 10. By this point we were freezing so headed back to Duel to warm up.

(cheers again Mark)

It was walk on, as usual, so we got on pretty quick and warmed up. I was the only one playing as the boys were just on it to warm up, and so I won. I was so proud :')

We headed back over to Sonic Spinball, which was now up and running and Ollie and I got on that in about 10 minutes, despite the fact the single rider queue was short, and due to the drizzle the ride was operating a 3 person per car operation. I guess this week is "single parents take their 2 kids to Alton" week. I got quite a lot of spin on it which was awesome.

(Cheers Mark ;))

It was about 2 o'clock at this point so we headed over to Oblivion, which had no queue. We rode it once, then Mark and Ollie sat out to take pictures. I rode again and got on it no time. As you can see I was totally calm on this ride. Loving it.

After this we headed to Burger King and had something to eat, then it got to about 2.50, so we headed back to the hotel as Mark had to get his bag from our room as he was heading back to the station for his train. We got back to the room after saying good bye to Mark at about 3.30 and got ready to go to Cariba Creek.

(This was taken after, of course)

It was about 4pm when we got down there, and as expected it was packed with children. Despite this, we got all the slides done at least once, riding the outdoors one in such cold weather was a weird and wonderful experience. After about 2 and a half hours sliding and just chilling in the bubble pools, we left to get ready for dinner. We ate at Flambo's at 8 and then headed back to our room about 9.30. But before getting back I had to have my obligatory photo on the giant chair.

When we got back we pretty much went straight to bed, as we were shattered from the night before, in order to get up early for breakfast and the extraordinary golf.

Day 2 to come tomorrow :)

Awww, that photo at the end is very cute.

There was no mention of Imaginary Ciall, though I am assured he was there. I just wish Martyn hadn't been such a knob so i could have finally met you and helped celebrate your 20th in style... :(

As I already know, you had a real good day in Empty-Alton-Land and this makes me both jealous and glad that you did :)

Yay. We had such a great day out. Although I was absolutely ****ed and soaking all day, not to mention the catastrophe of getting home. But yeah, had a really fun day guys! :)

Looks like you had a great day! It was ridiculously empty on Saturday as well and the smoke machine on Nemesis is definitely working now, you get a right mouthful especially on front row.

Going out and drinking those Gas Chambers, then staying up all night made us all really tired. Plus it was FREEZING. All our hands had gone purple and numb and we kept going on the indoor rides to warm up a bit. We even resulted on going into the Sealife and holding our hands against the tanks as the water inside was warmer haha.

Delicious, looks like fun. I miss Nemesis (and you guys of course), and it would have been nice if I could have gone, HOWEVER, I wasn't invited :p . Kidding, I couldn't have made it anyway.

But glad you had a good 20th.

Sorry, I went home the next day and left my computer at uni. Oops!
Plus, since then. I've been busy being a student. Sleeping and drinking and the likes... Anyway...

Day 2

We woke up at around 8, and I reluctantly left the bed at 8.15. We went down for breakfast at around 8.45, where I got into a bit of an awkward situation with a woman in front who thought I was having a go at her for pushing in when I was talking to Ollie... oops. Anyway, so we had breakfast and then went to play golf at around 9.45.

I thought the mini golf was really good, and it killed a good hour one of the best courses I've played. But, it will never beat Lightwater Valley's ;).

We got to the park about 10.45-11 and headed to McDonald's Farm. First we set off all the animatronics, which were kind of boring and creepy. After that we headed to Berry Bish Bash as I had never been in it before. As it was empty, it wasn't as fun as it usual is, I was told by Ollie. But I loved it, so I will go back when there are more people. Then we went on Riverbank Eye Spy, best ride of the day I think. Queued 5 mins for it, but they were so worth it! ;) I took a picture of a very realistic horse here.

Then we headed back out into the rest of the park. We started the day with a ride on Spinball. I got loads of spin again, which made the ride loads better. Love it when fat people go on with tiny children. The queue was about 30 mins, but as we went single rider we got on in about 5 minutes.

We headed over to Hex which was walk on again, so we did that next. It was really disappointing to ride, as not only was the speaker broken, as on the Monday, but the lights on the tree roots’ or whatever it is eyes were out. So effectively when the ride got to the point where this was on the roof, you couldn’t see anything, which ruined the effect a bit. But still. Hex <3

After a disappointing ride on Hex, we went to see if Charlie was open. It wasn’t, so whilst Ollie took a toilet break, I went to take pictures of the Dark Forest area. It was quite amusing, because 5 or 10 people came over in that time complaining that they had wasted their money because Rita or Th13teen wasn’t open. Not really, they’re not that good.

We then headed to Duel, walk on obviously, and went on that. I managed to get a score of over 30,000 and was so proud :’) Not much else to say about that.

(cheers Mark)

We headed to Nemesis, which was also walk on and had a go on that. I then asked Ollie if he’d take some pictures of me on front row, so I queued up again for front, which was 5 minutes long. They were filling the trains that day, whereas the first day they left 2 middle rows empty. The smoke effects by the bus were also turned off today. Still a great ride <3

I then went on Blade by myself whilst Ollie took pictures. Usually I love it, but it was on such a short cycle that day it was pointless. We went up to the highest point I think twice, then it ended. I was not amused.

thoroughly enjoying myself…

By this point we were hungry, so we went to the Pizza and Pasta buffet, which was bloody delicious, but not before a cheeky go on the Runaway Mine Train. The queue was only 5 minutes so we thought why not. We weren’t allowed to see our ORP though as the cool kids in front were being hardcore and putting their fingers up to the camera. I dunno if it was this, or the whole saying “choo choo” for the entire ride, that made them cooler.

After filling ourselves with pizza and pasta, we headed to Oblivion, which was walk on. Obviously. Every ride was pretty much. We had a couple of rides on that, with it still scaring me each time, the blighter. I still love it though <3

After this we had to leave, and this made me feel rather down but then I spotted something exciting! What’s this? A sneak peek at SW7? Really?! I was so excited, I had to take pictures to share. I was told by a man in a black suit and sunglasses (cool)?) to keep it quiet, but I can’t resist posting pictures here.

Can’t wait to see it in full! Look like it’ll be a better world’s first that Th13teen. ;)
What a wonderful end to a great break at Alton

^The prices have gone up again though. I still love it though.
Although pizza, pasta and fizzy drinks are all filling so you've got to have quite a bit to get you moneys worth.
