How do you deal with the offseason?

Unless you live in Florida or Southern California, odds are your home park has either closed for the winter or will be soon. During the offseason, I usually watch POVs, follow construction updates, and play RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, but it doesn't exactly satisfy my coaster craving. I know that next season will eventually come, but for now, I'll have to stick with those three activities.

- Watch POV's
- Play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
- Venture with NoLimits
- Rinse

Even during the season I (unfortunately) don't visit theme parks as often as everyone else, so I'm kinda used to it I guess.

I always watch POVs and keep up with construction updates all year. I occasionally play RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (sometimes RCT1) and play around with No Limits (which I actually haven't done in a while).

I do what I do during in the on-season, play RCT3 and No Limits along with watching POVs on youtube then might go to an open park far away if I'm lucky.

There's no off season here. If there was I'd "get through" it by doing what I do during the on season: having an actual real life with **** to do.

The off-season has never bothered me. But this time around I won't have much of a life, I'll spend this one saving every penny for the American, Spanish, Swedish and German trips I have planned for next year, and work as much as possible to earn said money. It's going to be worth it though.

On the plus side however there is the CF Xmas meet, and the fab Hollenblitz cred at Winter Wonderland.

I will keep up with construction, especially Banshee, Project Helix and Kentucky Kingdom's new coaster.

I do the usual stuff that everyone has already said. Although, this year I will be gonna to Busch gardens Williamsburg for Christmas town and a few years ago I went to Disney and universal for Christmas. But other than that, I just do the usual stuff.

The closed season seems to be getting smaller each year and I usually find some park trip happens to one that is open all year round (e.g. Disney)

This year i still have a return trip to PortAventura to come before Christmas, and winter wonderland will also help break it up ( unfortunately hollenblitz turned out to be a standard spinning mouse Darren! :( )

I generally don't spend the off season playing coaster games, although that might change this year if NoLimits 2 is released. Like others, this winter will be spent carrying on with life as normal and saving for park trips next year.

I forgot to mention, I'll spend part of the off season at Universal Studios Singapore and the major Australian parks.

I might do one of the Bangkok parks over New Year, depending on how **** up I am.

There's a few good suggestions in here:

It's a dark time to be an enthusiast, although Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is a good shout. If you get really desperate, find a bowling alley with a rollercoaster in

I don't get why members have to show off their prowess by stating the obvious about them having a life, friends etc. This isn't directed at Ben and Gavin directly, but others who have also made similar comments over the months. Although, Ben and Gavin are complete bitches, and going to watch Lil' Kim and Nicky Minaj live does not constitute a healthy social life! :D

But who on here actually only socialises at Theme Parks? Has only Roller Coasters as a hobby? And who's only subject of conversation is Roller Coasters? Ok so there are a few CF members I've met that are completely socially inept, unless talking about coasters, but as a whole everybody on here has a life, has friends and has the ability to amuse themselves in a way not relating to roller coasters.

This topic was created to discuss what we do to amuse ourselves when Theme parks aren't available, not to brag about how popular you are and what a great life you lead.

I went to Thorpe twice this year... That's it. I guess I'm just not afraid of talking to other humans.

Yes, this, definitely!

Throughout university I always had cricket training and work to pass my time, but now I've finished and my cricket club doesn't start training until the new year, the only way I'm really passing my time at the moment is through TV and the internet.
