I bring news that will either please you, or annoy you.
High School Musical isn't over.
Details have been released for a 4th film.
Even though they all moved on to college at the end of the 3rd one. HSM4 will see an entire new cast.

Is this bad news for all? Are you going to give it a chance as it's got a new cast? Or are you one that likes HSM?

I think it's silly and their just trying to squeeze the HSM franchise for everything they've got just because they know it will make money.

Yeh I heard this, the only origional cast member in it will be Ashely Tisdale (Sharpay Evans).

I thought it was a whole new cast. The main cast from the 3rd one graduated, except for that British girl (name?)

No Zac tho :( Therefore i'll just go watch re-runs of the first 3.

I'd rather listen to Vengaboys, and therefore I'd rather listen to a constipated howler monkey.

Oh and I predict an epic fail for this. I'd rather they had gone on to do 'University Musical.' Lots of getting drunk, doing drugs and being a riot*. Now that would be a musical worth watching. :p

*Note: I am not suggesting that all people at university do drugs, be a riot and get drunk... oh wait... maybe the getting drunk part. :--D

Oh God...

The first one was dreadful, the second one, ****e. As for the third, I've not seen it, but I think I'd rather eat my own hand that watch it.

This is going to suck major amounts of ass. I can never understand why they can't just let something die, it's the same with almost everything now.

Id rather stick needles into my eyes than watch that series.

I have one question to Disney.

Do you think this is what Disney wanted? I'm going to quote the "One Man, One Dream" attraction at Disney.

"It all started with a mouse"

Remember that Disney... You're missing the point.

I'm infinitely happy that we don't have Disney Channel anymore. They advertise new films with the same ad every ten minutes, often starting a month in advance. They can and will make every film incredibly irritating even before you watch it.

Thus, after all the cheesy HSM adverts, I'd rather eat my socks than giving in for the Disney Channel terror and watch it. Congrats Disney, if you hadn't hyped everything to irritation hell, I maight have considered watching it. Disney films have traditionally marketed themselves through reputation, and HSM's reputation is terrible. Very terrible. Thanks to marketing.

Go on then I want video evidence to prove that you've done it. :p
I think I'd much rather watch a short happy film than do either of those things.

Jesus...

I'm so glad I grew out of the Disney Channel... If I was given a choice of watching this or watching paint dry for the same length of time, I know the paint would be more exciting...

There's a market indeed, which is why it's released every year now, but it's just showing how easily kids get sucked into something with crap songs and crap storyline in comparison to the Disney films of the 90s...

To be young again...

^I never even watched the Disney Channel. Nickelodeon forever!

HSM4 is just pointless, but they will never let it be til the market for it has grown out of it, and considering my 5 year old cousin has watched HSM3 no less than twenty times, I'm going to guess that that's not going to be any time soon.

To me, I don't really mind, what's the harm in trying to make a bit more money, especially through something that brings a smile to so many kids faces. If it annoys you then don't watch it, duh.

What? That makes no sense what so ever.

Btw Benin 4 will be next year, meaning that there is a one year gap in-between :p I'm being pedantic.

Disney are basically doing what Skins have done. New cast (some of which we meet in the third film) and I suppose a new take on the franchise. It might as well be a standalone film and it isn't meant to be great, it is only a TV movie with a small budget.

I think 1 and 2 are ok but the third film was good, it is the modern day Grease.

^The the third HSM was actually pretty good.
2 was crap. And 1 was good the first time you watched it until everyone was singing it and took it to a point beyond what it deserved.

HSM is exploiting kids to part with their money.

<img src='http://www.coasterforce.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_censored.gif' /> Disney!

Not really. The first film was on Disney Channel before DVD, and it is played a lot. The only one that has actually taken money massively is the third. I don't think it is exploitation at all when it is their parents that pay to have Disney channel in the first place. If a child is a massive fan and wants to buy it on DVD (even though they can watch it on TV) or buy merchandise that is their choice of pocket money spend or whether a parent buys it for them. That is not exploitation at all. It is simple marketing.

TV shows have always spun massive sales in other items. I remember a time when you could not get a Power Rangers toy for love nor money because of how huge the show was and how popular the toys were. Going slightly further back, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles did the same... You could go even further back and look at Transformers and Masters of the Universe. All of which that have been huge money makers because of a childs fandom. It is totally natural for a child to be really into something and want to own everything they possibly can to do with it... Lunchbox, toys, books, bed spreads, the works.

What is going on with HSM is nothing new....

Anyways, a fourth film... Hmmmmm, will it work with a new cast, who knows. The kids will either follow it or they wont simple as. Children have no obligation to like anything and are normally quite honest about what they do or don't like.

I love how everyone that hates High School Musical completely and utterly misses the point of the films.

People that have "grown-out" of the Disney Channel, message to you - it's not made for you.
