Here are some concept images of the Hay al Sharq project in Oman which will hopefully be completed in early 2024, work has begun on the site. Originally just a water park the project has expanded to include a theme park with what looks to be a great looking launch coaster.

His Excellency Salim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism visited the project site to evaluate the work.

A couple of quick observations;

• Proslide Technology appears to have been tapped to supply their waterslides. Their stuff in the concept artwork is completely recognizable.
• The Red Coaster that I'm sure we all noticed immediately; personally I'm guessing Intamin, but Premier Rides or Mack are valid picks as well.
• Overall the project looks of a manageable scale, definitely more restrained and not as much of a pipe dream compared to Six Flags Qiddaya or The Rig.

Project definitely looks solid, the concept artwork is more specific and reflects whats probably the design in stone. It's telling that they've already started construction and are working on a reasonable timeline.

Nah, that's 100% an Intamin on those photos. The track and trains are identical to the newer Intamins.

Been awhile since anyone’s mentioned this project here. Anyhow, it’s still going full steam, seems like Intamin coaster hardware has been on site since last summer and the waterpark layout has been dug out;

Welp looks like for now the project is over.

From the Project Manager:
"The Dream Project of Oman, a Giga Project, would be the game changer for Oman toward Tourist Development. The vision of the late Great Leader Sultan Qaboos has been lost in the wake of the pandemic and his loss."

Hopefully while the project is no more that Intamin in storage on site finds a new home as it looked like a solid coaster from the concept art.
