Funniest thing you've ever heard a ride op or employee say.

I've heard some hilarious ones. The best one was a conversation I had with a ride op this past summer when I was at Cedar Point. The ride op at Millenium force said that we were gonna reach 120 mph. After the ride, I asked him if he was serious and he said "yes. Although The big launching one over there feels faster." Realizing that he meant Top Thrill, I asked him "How fast does that one go?" and he said 93 mph

I remember queuing for dragons fury at Chessington when it was raining and the ride operator said over the tannoy

"ladies and gentlemen because of the large amount of rain we have today..."

The whole queue went awww at the same time

"...the trains will be going EXTRA fast on dragons fury!"

And then everyone cheered. It was amazing how a simple thing like that can get a whole queue full of wet guests cheering

On Dragons Fury my sister asked how fast the ride goes the op said ' 40 miles per second' I tried to correct him but he still thought he was right.

Once we were queueing for Detonator, and the ride op made everyone is the queue to sing happy birthday to a guest who was at the top of the ride. She wasn't happy :)

The last time I went on Oblivion, The ride op kept saying that it was a member of staff's birthday and when we see that member of staff, we should all give her a hug.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

"Okay, it should work this time." After my restraint kept popping open before the train I was one left the station. :s

To a guest asking if anyone had died on a particular ride: "Not today."

I give that answer every time.

On Saw recently.......
"Don't forget to activate the parachute under your seat at the top of the ride"

Those few seconds when you actually think "What the...." then realise they're having you on!

Re: Funniest thing you've ever heard a ride op or employee s

No, those "few seconds" don't exist in most, you're gonna have to be VERY gullible to even believe in that for a split second.

On Iron Dragon:

"We are going to hurl you at a blistering 40 mph through not 1, not 2, but zero inversions! Enjoy your ride on Iron Dragon!"

That happened at Alton Towers on Rita too when I was there last Summer! Their version also included a note to say if you don't want to ride in the rain step to the side and let people in front (which a load of fannys did! :) )

The ride op for Colossus told everyone to do a mexican wave on the last train of the day (which I was on) and then sent us off and when we got back into the station if we want to go again we had to give him a hug. Only 1 person gave him a hug, but he still sent us around again.

Blistering is an understatement. :p

I came up with that one while working on Blue Streak. At least I thought I did.

Working at CP day in and day out, a good ride host makes it more interesting for themselves and guests. For example, while working on Skyride, I'd ask the guests a riddle that they had to tell the ride hosts on the other side. The funny thing was the other station didnt know I was doing it. So they were very much amused how 100+ guests were answering what theyd do for a knoedike (however its spelled) bar.

I got a ton of stories like this.

Edit: that was the wrong quote...

Sent while out and about
