Haven't done one of these for a while, as we've all been most places but there's only a handful of people I know who have been here so far, but obviously everyone will descend on the place once Hyperion opens so…
I had a free morning/early afternoon before my flight left after a week working in Krakow and Energylandia is open Fridays in April, so thought it would be the perfect way to use up a few hours. I won't lie, I had massive cred anxiety, 11 creds in no more than 4 hours is quite tough, but I needn't have worried.
Getting to Energylandia by public transport looked to be difficult, although I gleamed throgh research there is a train from Krakow to Zator in the summer season. I hired a car from the airport, it's a 50 minute drive, partly motorway, partly windy back roads, but it's easy enough. Take a Sat Nav tho
I arrived with plenty of time to spare and there was maybe a 20 or so cars in the car park so I went for a wander around the Hyperion site and snapped some photos - http://coasterforce.com/forums/threads/energylandia-hyperion-intamin-hyper-coaster.40406/page-30
By the time I got back to the entrance, a large amount of coaches had arrived, transporting a couple of thousand school kids. So I made my way to the entrance to await the opening of the gates.
There's a fab opening show in the courtyard, a few hotties caught my eye, so it was an enjoyable 10 minutes Once the show was nearing it's conclusion I slinked off to find the rope to the right of the courtyard to get ready for rope drop.
Cred 1/11 - Frutti Loop - 10:00am
Standard wacky worm with some attempt at theming. On and off within 5 mins, happy days.
Cred 2/11 - Energus - 10:05am
Vekoma Junior cred. Cred itself is crap but queue and station is very well themed, and it had some good views of Hyperion. Walk on at this point.
Cred 3/11 - Boomerang - 10:10am
Another one of the recent family boomerangs that have sprung up. I liked the queue and theming here too, a trend of the park, as the track colour is nice too. Ride experience is the same as the others, boring. Walk on as well.
Cred 4/11 - Viking - 10:15am
Similar to Frutti Loop, Viking has had some theming added, but there's still the support structure just sitting there looking ****. Oh, and this is easily one of the worst spinners I've been on, rough, jolty, not spinny and disgusting restraints. On the plus side I was still walking on to everything.
Cred 5/11 - Mayan - 10:25am
The first queue of the day was Mayan, but it was only around 5 mins. Allowed me to admire some of the theming here too, the Aztec station is nicely done, but there's no other theming on the ride. Grabbed a middle row ride, knowing what these SLCs are usually like.
Surprisingly this one is excellent, there was only one noticeable jolt through the whole circuit, the rest was smooth, with several forceful moments and some brilliant foot choppers. Track work is obviously better and the use of Vests enhances the ride significantly.
This is the first SLC that I would happily re ride multiple times, it really is excellent, I wouldn't mind another of these springing up.
Cred 6/11 - Mars - 10:35am
Again well themed, again the supports should be covered up. Ride was just a + 1 and too many circuits for an enthusiast.
Cred 7/11 - Dragon - 11:00am
Queues started to become a thing now as I'd caught up with the school groups who had all gone left at the entrance. But this was only around 20 minutes so not bad.
At first glance this seemed to be a slightly better Kvasten/Flight of the Pterosaur, but I was wrong. This is a total gem of a ride. Back row for this one and the airtime going down the drop into the tunnel was totally unexpected, the helixes were forceful, the sense of speed was excellent and there were other pops of airtime. No wonder the locals flocked to this, well worth a re-ride.
Cred 8/11 - Formula - 11:30am
Well themed again, this area in general had the best theming, with a restaurant and viewing area. Shame they were only running 1 train, as this was the largest queue of the day.
Somehow managed a front row ride, It's like all the others didn't realise where the front row was so in I darted with a smug grin.
The launch is good, heightened by the smoke machines at the end of the launch track. The first element gives a decent amount of hang before twisting and giving some good positives in the pull out. The rest of the ride is a lovely mix of intense positives in the turns and glorious airtime over the hills with a few twisty inversions thrown in. It has everything you want really, it's just a bit short.
A worthy 400th cred!
Cred 9/11 - Circus Coaster - 11:35am
Don't want to talk about it, still feel dirty.
Cred 10/11 - Speed Water Coaster - 11:55pm
One of the other creds I was looking forward to, well kinda. It was a new ride type for me, but having heard less than exciting things about DiVertical I wasn't expecting to be blown away. And I wasn't.
They are clearly working on adding vegetation to the queue and once again they are attempting to theme this well. That’s it really.
The ride itself was rubbish, it's a glorified log flume with an interesting and terrifying lift. The drop was crap, but you do get soaked from the first splash, if you like that. The rest of the ride was awful, it just does nothing, it's not particularly fast, there's no force at all, and the final splash isn't very wet. Bleh.
Cred 11/11 - Happy Loops - 12:00pm
+1
2 hours in, all the creds done. Much better than expected, so went for a wander taking some pics and did a couple of other rides.
Alien Attack
This shooter really wound me up. It's got some really impressive statues of Aliens and Army guys, but the lighting is really really bad, so you can't see hardly any of the detail. The guns are crap, there's hardly any targets to hit, a lot don't work, the vehicles are uncomfortable, you can see the iron roof, the music is ghastly, and there's no staff member to let you off.
It's so crap, one of the worst dark rides in the history of dark rides.
Drop Tower. This was also really bad, no airtime, rubbish cycle, just not worth doing.
At this point I decided to make a move as I'd done everything I wanted to and the 3 creds I wanted to re ride were all at least a 30 min queue, so I video'd them hoisting up a bit of the lift hill of Hyperion and made my way 10 mins down the road to Zatorland.
Dino Roller
So there's this little amusement park 10 mins from Energylandia which has a cred. It's free to enter, but you need a ticket for the cred, which is 10zl, get this from the main ticket window, they take cards.
The cred itself is poor, watch out for the left side of the train on the downward helix, it's uncomfortable.
Energylandia
The park was a lot better than I thought it would be. I expected concrete everywhere and minor theming but it's got green areas, they are clearly trying to add vegetation and most of the rides have OK theming, yes they could do better but it's better than nothing. They also have surprisingly good merch as well, each ride show has specific ride merch and there's an OK shop at the entrance as well.
Cred wise they have 3 gems, Mayan is easily the best SLC I've been on, the new Gen Vekomas are really smooth and forceful, Formula just has great moments throughout, and Dragon is such a fab little invert. The rest of the creds are a bit ropey but they do have a good selection of water rides, and are building a good sized rapids ride currently.
I'll obviously be back for Hyperion, but wouldn't say no to a few re-rides while I'm there.
