I finally broke down and got NL about 2 weeks ago, and this is my first child.

Eagleheart (In honor of adult swim's new show (plus I can't create names))

I'll try my best to learn this program, but until then I just hope you guys don't mind my little attempts.

Also, I hope you guys don't tear me apart for the lack of a station, but I've decided that I'd rather be done with this project as soon as possible. Just know I considered it

And I apologize that you have to copy and paste to see these....I was under the impression it was 5 posts and I could share pictures :(

And if you guys think it's worthwhile, I'll post the download soon.

Supports are horrible.. WAYYYY too many of them for quad Intamin track. You need to cut down on them in every single way. If you need tips.. look at Fahrenheit, Storm Runner, and Maverick.

The layout isn't too bad tho.

Yeah, that was my plan, but didn't want to put in the time for this project.

I just didn't want to get hammered for undersupporting it. I'll maybe do some revising if people think it's worthwhile enough.

Your photos were fine.. you just can't post them until 20 posts. It protects against spammers. Put them back up! ;)

Firstly, the good. The layout was pretty good on this I thought. It was quite fun, interesting, different and it kept up most of the pacing all the way though.

Sadly however, it wasn't very well made. There were jerks and pumps in all the corners and transitions and the supports weren't great either. For example, on the top-hat you just used straight horizontal supports to connect the footers to the track. In reality they'd have very little structural integrity. Also, on some of the turns you'd just used one (very thin) support to hold up the corner, again, that wouldn't really work.

Some hints then, firstly use the Auto-Smoother Ctrl+G. It does a good job of removing the pumps and jerks. Also try to use more segments as it allows you to have more control over the track. As for the supports, you really want to use a short support from the track which is parallel to the connector, then connect that node to the footers.

Overall, not bad. It was a good effort. 5.5/10

Thank you for giving it a view. Trust me, I've been using the auto-smoother all the way through its design, but I guess I didn't lay the segments in an equal way to completely remove pumps. I'll be working on it. And hopefully the more I pay attention to real-life examples of supports the more I'll get the hang of it.

Thanks for tips!

The built in smoother isn't just a magic tool that instantly removes all imperfections at each vertex, it's more of a tool that requires thought put into how it is used before you can execute.

First thing you might want to try is a simple turn, and try to smooth that. The best way to gain the most control over your layout is to use proper segment spacing, and try to keep all of those segments spaced evenly (to avoid banking jerks, and the likes), say about 10m apart at most.

If you find a bump at a vertex, the best thing to do is to remove the bump, by deleting the vertex, smoothing around it, then add that vertex in again. It's a lot more drawn out than it sounds, but it's worth it.

Also, when you do initial braking, you should design them in a way that they are straight, and are on a downward slope, without any form of forward propulsion (no kicker wheels!!!!!)- the train should be able to free roll forward. And to make entire sections straight, highlight them all and press I on your keyboard.

(btw, you can click, and hold to drag a box around sections you want to highlight, incase you didn't know ;) )

The only braking exception is for swarzkopf coasters and older woodies, of which are often found having braking on turns and banks, as well as some jet coasters, otherwise try to keep the braking on a straight, segment of which does not feature changing banking.
