Cedar Point | Siren's Curse | Vekoma Tilt Coaster | 2025

Having been on a tilt drop before (Escape from Gringotts), it's not really similar to a dive coaster drop at all. The main thrill is the feeling as the track tilts, the drop is just the bonus. I think both can co-exist in the same park.

That being said, if Top Thrill 2 worked out this would have 100% gone to Kings Island or Carowinds, parks that needed it more.

I like the coaster, but I am not a fan that this one will be at CP.

This coaster would have better gone to almost any other park in the chain and CP could have gotten an bigger version with a custom layout and better fitting colors 3 years later.

The colors that EL chose just don't fit with the theming, nor the other coasters around.

CP f#### it up with TT2 and to me they should have taken more time to plan something "better", maybe a layout that can hold 3 trains?! 2 train operations on modern Vekomas don't move poeple like CP needs. I just drove hime from EL and there we're not too many people, but the two Vekomas launch coasters always had the longest lines in the park with 2 train ops.

Could have been worse; EL originally went with blue supports, not sure how I'd feel about that at CP tbh.

The three-train tilt coaster at Qiddiya looks like an absolute monster though; it would have been more in line with Cedar Point to be honest but I digress. Millennium Force next door does 600pph tops nowadays anyways and I was prepared to fly out and stay with friends in Mexico City for this, so suddenly having this ride being located 5 hours away warrants no complaints.

Also tangent but we have four different threads on here seemingly all covering the same ride, the story behind this has got to be absolutely fascinating.

I've decided to lock the EL and SFM threads - those specific coasters are dead now (well... at CP now...). The generic Vekoma one can stay though, that has historically been used for different stuff.

Updates on what is and hasn't happened;

Walls were extended and advertising mounted this weekend. It took two weeks after the announcement for this to materialize;

Limited-time merchandise is currently available;

No surveying work has been done yet, no permits filed, no staging yard being reassembled or lots being blocked off.

On top of all the usual work for a new coaster there's a major road that needs to be rerouted, which if they'd planned ahead would have been done the offseason before. As it stands, nothing can really happen until the park closes after this month.

This whole thing feels like such a gamble. They just went the whole 2024 season with the main ride effectively not opening at all, then shift this project allegedly to 'make up for' that blunder... now THIS ride is already said to have a "early summer 2025" opening, it's October and there's virtually nothing done yet, but as mentioned above, a whole lot of stuff to do. Good luck.

Side note, that's some pretty nice merch. A shame the ride won't be those colors😔

Did Cedar Point actually make any announcement about the reopening date of TT2? I can't shake the feeling that we might not be seeing both rides opening next year. What if TT2 turns out to have some more severe issues which take longer to fix and that Siren's tis heir last minute attempt to cure the situation for 2025? At least that would make a lot more sense to me than having both opening in 2025. ...hope though I am wrong here!

I think you might be reading a bit too much into the tea leaves - Siren's Curse would be very easy to open next year, even if as a delayed start. For TT2, if it isn't to open next year... it really begs the question if it would ever reopen, given a 1.5-2 year closure that has already given ample room for Zamperla and CP to troubleshoot any possible fix.

If Zamperla can't fix it, do you think CF would give in to try to have Intamin come to the rescue?

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell Intamin would touch it at this point. As soon as Zamperla began "frankenstein'ing" the project, I would expect Intamin to have very quickly cut any and all ties & liability with that ride. I feel like we're firmly in the territory of either A) Zamperla fixes it, or B) Zamperla doesn't, and the ride is toast.

And for Zamperla's sake, I really do hope they can get it working properly. It looked like a fantastic ride, really. I'm waiting to make the trip out there, I just want it to be open first.

As much as we've corroborated from hearsay (and plenty of unconfirmed rumor), Intamin was approached in the TT2 bidding process, and: A. possibly bid an entirely different project concept (e.g. replacing existing hydraulic launch) B. probably came in at higher cost than Zamperla.

For whatever reason, we are here... to talk about Siren's Curse! ;) I still take the bait that this was moreso an opportunity to move forward with Six Flags Mexico's-originated tilt coaster on a faster timeline, rather than a direct switcheroo to "replace" TT2 in some sense. I'll take the +1!

They're definitely getting a move on with this one. No permits filed yet, I'm checking every day.

Crane has gone up on site, not exactly sure what the purpose of this is right now. There's a nice light-tube layout on the construction walls as well.

Site currently looks like this, they've also removed most of the remaining trees from the Cedar Dorms parking lot.

Seeing BIG stuff being imported from Tianjin, perhaps this is all tilt tower related?

In terms of other park projects Millennium Force will be seeing some much-needed love. Permits were filed this month for partial demolition and replacement of its lift motor and building, in addition to repainting work popping up around the coaster.

Yes, if you look at their shipping history, they also supplied columns for The Flash at Six Flags Great Adventure.
The super boomerang was headed for Asia though, this Tiltcoaster never was so I doubt this is for Siren's Curse. Maybe some final bits for Flash? Or they could've bought a flat or something from that same park that fell through

Right so yeah I'm dumb. Anyways yeah.

The obvious stuff was filed two weeks ago (J24-1124), basically referring to hardscape, landscaping, site lighting, etc, all of which are currently ongoing now. That's step one.

The real meat comes in with the second project, filed two days ago (J24-1170) in relation to that funny below ground trench dive that the park totally wouldn't have included if they'd had control of the layout. Foundation plan will come later, this is separate.
