With all that's going on in the industry this year I decided to do a little breakdown of the numbers & stats.
I'm missing the manufacturers of seven coasters in China (1 invert, 1 looper, 1 spinner & 4 steel sitters), but I'm assuming they are from local manufacturers anyway. So here's some of what I've come up with so far:
Mack Rides looks to be having a banner year with the most new coasters & rides opening, followed by Vekoma, Zamperla & Intamin. B&M has two wing coasters opening, but is making headlines thanks to the new reverse seats on three of their existing coasters, with more surely to follow if they become popular.
One thing I found interesting is that China parks are installing far more legit coasters than knockoffs (20-8) even if the seven unknowns are from Chinese manufacturers. China also has the most new parks opening (10), three more than the rest of the world combined.
Second to China, the U.S. is getting 12 new/7 relocated coasters.
