I had an idea for a big Nintendo-themed park, so bear with me. It's probably crap anyway.
Main area would of course have to be Mario, probably with Peach's castle (if you're going to go down a Disney route). Mario would of course have to have some sort of roller coaster, probably a traditional...
Amused.
"We're gonna do it! We're gonna **** do it! We're gonna break into the **** Pleasure Beach and ride the **** Little Dipper!" (from back when it was called the Little Dipper - or was it the Zipper Dipper?)
(reminds me of that bit from Bottom where they're...
Cedar Point a few years back (before Gatekeeper, and whilst Disaster Transport was around - 2011 I think it was). My wife and I went for two days, but on the first day we managed everything we wanted, a few times. Only really came across queues that were longer than 15 minutes at Millennium...
Oh, I definitely understand the need for the fences, don't get me wrong. I guess it just appears a bit jarring to me to see them up, and it makes the beach look worse.
Of course the death of a two-year-old is much, much worse. I have a two-year-old myself and would quite happily have let him...
Re: Liverpool Teens arrested for beating up lad at Alton Tow
Like the way it kinda seamlessly blends the Smiler accident into it. Y'know, just in case anybody had forgotten or thought it was remotely relevant to this.
Ian - the VR idea was off the top of my head, just to illustrate a 2-minute discussion. You could have, for instance, a discussion on which fast-pass system works best, staying on-site vs off-site, perhaps a video showing what else there is to do around Orlando that isn't a theme park (a lot of...
The fence looks hideous. Well, okay, it doesn't look hideous but the scene is pap compared to how it was before. I do feel Disney may have gone overkill, but what do you expect? The Grand Floridian, and basically all hotels offering lakeside accomodation in the Orlando area, will probably be hit...
Re: Liverpool Teens arrested for beating up lad at Alton Tow
As Pink Panther said, I'd expect the Daily Mail to be up in arms, decrying Alton Towers as the least safe place in the country as you'll either get injured on the rides or beaten up.
I think it's more to keep people out than keep alligators in.
I really don't think there's any way Disney could have prevented gators getting into their water network. Disney World is HUGE and has a few lakes, a few inlets, rivers and so on. Gators will be able to come and go as they please...
Ugh, the fence looks ugly as sin. I was afraid this would happen and, whilst Disney do need to react and show they're doing something in this situation, I just really dislike that it will spoil the look and feel of their beached areas.
I would have preferred it if their "no swimming" signs...
Not a "top 5" idea, but more of a video idea. Perhaps, every once in a while, more of a discussion video, say a 2-minute video discussing the pro's and con's of VR coasters and how they compare against simulators, or whether we should treasure old coasters rather than replace them.
Precisely. Most people know that Florida is inundated with gators and, whilst they wouldn't be surprised to discover that they exist inside the Disney World resort (albeit they are heavily policed), you just wouldn't expect to have to consider it. I'd have let my two-year-old son have a paddle...
Not quite what I had in mind. I do like Spiderman (wasn't keen on DarKastle, Speed Of Magic), but I wouldn't really consider them AR - not in the technical sense. I'd consider them nice, shiny dark rides (and very nice and shiny they are too).
With AR, I'm meaning something more like Google...
So, loads of parks are doing VR coasters. I must admit that I'm not too keen on the idea, and it sounds like there are plenty of people who aren't. But there are some who are, and it seems a relatively cheap way to revitalise an attraction and give your park something big again (hello...
Travel more. I've got a few parks within relatively easy distance of me (Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land, Alton Towers I guess), but I love going on holiday to theme parks. Give me that and I'd be happy.
I nearly registered at Theme Park Review to say this to Robb Alvey (and probably get banned - I got banned from their Facebook page for telling him the video controls frequently hide the ride location, and the recent France thing was amusing to watch), but I get to vent here instead.
First off...
So here we go, for the final time in a while, we're off to Blackpool Pleasure Beach! Yay!
A bit of background first. I come from a town that's just a short distance from the Pleasure Beach, then moved to Yorkshire for university and stayed here since. But each year my wife and I will come over...
