Coasters that carry their park’s coaster lineup

Even though it gives a very rough ride, I would personally say the Big One carries the Beach. It doesn't only stand tall around the other rides literally, it still does it figuratively as well. People still don't know about Icon.

    Alton Towers' Next Big Thing?

My nan was never, ever wrong. Thirty years deceased though, so we might be safe. Parish Council opinion doesn't count for much in a great many planning cases where big bucks and major local employers are concerned. Add a dozen fast and slow conifers, whip out a few dying and dangerously old...

    Alton Towers' Next Big Thing?

I'm not saying it is anything like the same thing, I wasn't making a ridiculous comparison, neither was I pulling facts out of my arse, I was simply pointing out that there has been heavy tourism in and around the Towers for many years, it didn't start with the Corkscrew. Back to nan... It was a...

    Alton Towers' Next Big Thing?

My nan went to Alton for the day in the nineteen thirties for a day trip. Four hour drive, many , many towns provided a motor coach service. They had to queue for half an hour to get in. Theme Park/amusement centre...same thing, different title, different period. Alton Towers, as an amusement...

Could like-for-like retracks of coasters ever eclipse coaster removals?

No, people generally want new stuff, not copies of old stuff. You can get exceptions like nemesis, but generally, coasters are pulled down to build something newer, higher, faster, bigger and better, to pull in more punters. So like for like replacements will never eclipse removals. Forward...

What defunct coaster do you miss the most?

It was half closed in 2017...open about a third of the time while failing to manage the new magnetic brakes system and broken chains from the extra weight.

What defunct coaster do you miss the most?

Could we add the Southport Cyclone as well, just to finish off the Lancashire coast? For the same reasons as above, Sunday trips to a beach hut at Ainsdale ended with a ride on the Cyclone...if I was good. Which even then, wasn't often.

Na sorry, I meant masturbation. I can still manage gaming, as long as there aren't too many buttons.

Closed season. Chewing the fat. Well mannered debate going on a bit on random trivial topics. But what else is there to do? I'm too old for that other stuff men do with computers with this arthritis in my hands. ...and Matt, I was only pulling your leg mate...again. You stay optimistic for all...

Highest Math Class you have taken

Forty odd years ago I got O level Maths GCE at grade C...the absolute minimum for access to "the future". Not much effort or revision, so my maths (or math to our American friends) teacher suggested A level, as I had a natural aptitude for arithmetic. I went to one A level Maths lesson, once and...

Now then our Matt...can I gently pull your leg and ask if you think it is likely that the nice PY Gerbeau will actually come back to us with a new, invigorated development proposal before the end of the year, as he promised? If I remember rightly, he gave you a whole new dawn of optimism a...

Edit made! And Nicky... "There are absolutely no issues with it's location in regards to public transport. " Original comment that I challenged as wrong. It still is, in my humble opinion, sorry.

Transport for London and Network Rail still disagree. Public transport in the capital is already at capacity, unreliable, and extremely congested at the times people will want to travel to the non existent park. People would choose to travel by car, and that would cause further congestion. And I...

Better pulling figures out of the air than from my arse. 3 changes is convenient is it? Four trains to do a theme park day trip is beyond reason for most non thoosies. Simple fact, it would be realistically impossible for me, even using taxis to the station, to do a day trip to this non existent...

Fine if you live close to the mainline station. For me, and about 80% of the population who do not live within walking distance of a mainline railway station... Walk to the bus, bus into town, train (no connection) to mainline station, mainline station to Euston, walk, tube to Ebsfleet. Two...
