Probably not switched off, it's more likely that the sound system experienced a technical fault and was flagged up during the pre-opening checks for engineers to rectify in the evening. Chessington are very serious about ensuring that a ride's show effects and audio are fully active for guests.
Looks punchy and well paced. I can still count five moments of sustained and strong airtimeyness, and two moments of hangtime. The UK public won't know what they've been sorely missing over in mainland Europe when they ride this for the first time!
Ride To Happiness has an intense launch. Then there's Cloud Coaster in China, which is a hyper LSM launch coaster with a top hat. They can definitely do intense if a park wants them to. :) Time will tell how Starfall Racers rides of course.
The IRA are back, they have a thoosie abduction division.
Anyway, great to see track has now gone vertical. It'll be a must do park in 2024 alongside Europa and Thorpe.
From what I read in the plans, they hope to run it til 20:00 in the evenings.
I think it looks ace. There's potential for very immersive theming like the 'cavern' themed entrance.
They've clearly listened to feedback as well with the addition of bigger slides. Once this is open we can...
I didn't find Mandrill to be too bouncy at all. It's definitely the smoothest and most re-rideable coaster at Chessington. I think people set their standards way too high in terms of how smooth a rollercoaster has to be. A very minute rattle does not equal a terribly rough ride. There are some...
John Burton is very good at what he does. What people aren't realizing though is that these projects are designed to serve a brief, as well as a budget. World of Jumanji isn't awful, there's a lot of good in it, like the detailed theming, paths, cinematic soundtrack, thrilling rides for families...
Fun, re-rideable and well themed. By far and away the best rollercoaster at Chessington. Pulls some very interesting forces to and the experience can vary depending on where you're sat.
The gold looks a bit brighter when it's painted on real metal, but yes it's definitely not the kind of gold that people expect. Hence why I believe it's aesthetically themed on the firebird's flight over the Canadian Rockies, with the white paint resembling snow on the mountainous terrain.
It's clearly thunderbird themed. The themed aesthetic points towards a very Loggers Leap/Canada Creek inspired style with the natural timber cladding and golden bird emblem. The painting gradient, while deliberate to eliminate 'visual pollution' in the surrounding area and greenbelt, looks very...
It's different and quite bold, but we can't judge it fully until the entire package (any new theming, landscaping, and the full coaster track layout etc) has been completed.
