    Last Cred Review

I returned from Copenhagen last night where we visited Tivoli on the opening day of their Christmas season. What a wonderful little park, it's a very different experience to the parks we'd usually visit but we expected that and were honestly awestruck at points. We loved the old wooden...

    WTF Merlin?

I did too, way more than I expected to. The theme was definitely not fitting and as I've said before, any permanent replacement really should be themed (Nemesis got a Tentacle loose?). I just look at what Paulton's have done, their new land isn't Phantasialand level of theming (arguably...

    WTF Merlin?

It finally happened then, we knew it would but I'll be sad to see them leave. As per my recent little trip report, I hope Merlin have seriously reviewed their inclusion and popularity and have some plans to bring in some permanent flats in their place as they did have an impact on queues and did...

    Your Least Common Opinion?

Counter-take, Goudurix. Had a near-Zen ride on that with my partner and it's smoother empty.

    WTF Merlin?

They were that, to allow the park to open at a good capacity during covid.

    WTF Merlin?

That's crazy, after my visit recently I remarked that the temporary flats have done wonders to suck up some crowds and should absolutely be replaced with permanent (and themed) versions of themselves, but the park still has serious issues when the big rides are down, add in the fact that the...

    WTF Merlin?

From what I have heard, The Smiler is awaiting a new part from Gerst which is stuck in Brexit Customs purgatory. Take this with a pinch of salt though, it could be total BS.

Have they finally opened up the gate into Wuze Town?

    Lego 10261 (Rollercoaster) Thread

Nice, how was the Ferris Wheel? I'm now wondering what the hell I am going to do with this thing, it's not small.

    Lego 10261 (Rollercoaster) Thread

Has anyone else built the Lego Coaster? I've been assembling it over three evenings now and I've still got the train to go. I love this thing, it has a: - Functioning Lift Hill with proper gears and tensioning (IMHO the best bit to assemble), and proper chain (IMHO the worst bit to assemble)...

    YAY Merlin!

Wtf has happened over the course of this season? It honestly seems like Merlin have got it together a bit and started running things properly.

Major Rides At Your Local Park You Always Skip?

I guess my local would be Thorpe, and the skippables are either whatever incarnation of X is there at any given time (I did give Walking Dead a chance...) and Darren Brown which was awesome the first time, a major let down the second time and just not worth the wait anymore.

    YAY Merlin!

It's absolutely not right to exclude an entire community and I wouldn't support any measures to do so, your comparison there is apt in my opinion. There is however a serious issue in that community, and it needs to be dealt with. I don't really know what else Towers could have done, and...

    YAY Merlin!

A few other positives from Sunday: Nemesis was a capacity machine, and was running absolutely brutally. The last two inverts I'd ridden were Black Mamba and Inferno and whilst both good rides, just do not have the lethality that people love about the early inverts. It had a 0 minute queue for...

Strongest theming on a mega/hyper, giga or strata coaster?

Shambhala, has its own themed area pretty much (see my user icon!), themed tunnel, themed splashdown... It's impossible to fully theme and entire coaster that large but Shammy has it where it actually matters.

    YAY Merlin!

I really don't think Tik Tok has anything to do with this. This is just feral little ****s (and older ****s) who've never been told no or faced any consequences for their actions. There were teens like that in my school too, but not to the extent we saw yesterday, yet still these sorts of people...

    YAY Merlin!

Okay, now I've had time to sleep, digest what happened yesterday and have some coffee, here's what happened. Now again, I'll preface with the fact we had our best day at Alton in years, the rides were reliable, the new flats added some long needed variety, the gardens night-time light walk...

    YAY Merlin!

Putting this in the YAY thread and not the WTF because today's visit to Alton was the first time I've felt the magic in a long time, Merlin have clearly made some real changes in some key areas and it's showing. Did all the biggies and flats (skipped Runaway Train by choice), including 3 rides...

Paultons Park | Farmyard Flyer | Custom Zierer Force | 2022

I'm thinking I may be able to get my niece on this next year. I took her on Dino Chase when she was 2, and she hated it. She's 4 now, and rode the Wacky Worm on South Parade Pier with my sister, and she hated it. I'm wondering if next year, when she's 5, we can do Paulton's together and she...

Rides that you would like more if they had different restraints

Three rides: Colossus at Thorpe, it's been said time and time again but I genuinely believe that ride could run like new with new trains featuring lapbars. A relatively cheap investment that would do wonders for the park. Colossus in general could do with a mid-life refurb in places to up the...
