New ride/roller coaster coming to Särkänniemi amusement park? 2025? 2026?

I must have been at the park at the same time as the poster there - my photo from the observation tower has the digger in exactly the same position. Can confirm the drfit thing was operating, but I was quite hungover and the thought of it made me feel sick, so I skipped it. :D They're also...

    Milestones in Your Counts

Nah, wasn't up to much. ;) It was fabulous. Finished mopping up the other creds now, so going to take a few more laps. It's possibly better than Taron, actually. Need to have a look at my rankings in a few weeks once things have had time to settle.

    Last Cred Review

Tornado For some reason I was expecting this to be a janky, but it was actually surprisingly good! Famous for its heartline rolls, and they actually deliver pretty well. It was smooth, had some decent forces and my only real criticism is that it seems to hemorrhage speed somehow. But I'm glad...

    Last Cred Review

Three from today (Junker was technically the last). I'll try to follow up with a proper trip report, but may take me a week or two to get to that. Junker I've heard good things about this, and I was pleasantly surprised. Punchy launch, solid airtime and a stall built before stalls were all the...

Small News From The Theme Park Industry

The Merlin approach would be to delay the opening of the rest of the rides for an hour. 👌

A comparison of average theme park queue times by location and operator: a data visualisation dashboard

People smarter than me use lots of PowerBI at work to achieve similar sorts of interactive data visualisation on projects, and I'm always quite impressed by it's capability. I've just never found the time (or project need) to 'learn' it myself. I've always liked the idea of coding things like...

Six Flags Great America | Wrath of Rakshasa | B&M Dive Coaster | 2025

Blimey, they're notably different aren't they?

Opinion (controversial?) Bobbejaanland: Horse Pedalo should count, for those who count coasters

    I didn't ride it when I went. I didn't realise it was cred-like. So... it's not a cred. Can't be self-spiting now, can I? :D

Weekend in the Bay Area - Day 3: San Francisco

San Francisco is fab, and I loved seeing your sunny photos of the city. Great trip overall too - nice one!

Jinma Officially Go Bonkers With New Inverted Model

I hadn't clocked the first drop first time round. :O

    WTF Merlin?

Rita is fine. It's impressive enough off-ride, and the ride experience is fine, but for me it doesn't suit Alton's vibe at all. It doesn't feel remotely 'unique' to the landscape (which is contrary to all the othe big coasters at Alton), and had always felt a bit "plonked" to me. I know we'd...

Sunway Lagoon To Build Wild Mouse Water Coaster

I didn't really do much research on this before/during my visit last year, but did think it was a bit odd it'd been SBNO for so long. Good to see it's finally open, I suppose. Shame they couldn't have had it ready for me last year... ;)

    Toverland's Expansion Plan

That's a bit of a shame, cos I do love that ride. It does have a very poor throughput though, so I do at least hope they replace it with something as enjoyable.

Six Flags Qiddiya | Saudi Arabia | Theme Park

It would help, but in the summer months it really doesn't make much difference. The night lows can regularly stay north of 30°C (it was never lower than 40°C for the first month or so I was in Abu Dhabi), and whilst that is much better than the mid-high 40s you get during the day (and you don't...

Six Flags America & Hurricane Harbour to close at the end of the 2025 season

I got spited by Superman when I visited, and always felt a bit miffed about that. Rest of the part was mediocre, at best, but shame to see it go especially as I suspect most of the coasters there will end up on the scrapheap.

    Most “sadistic” theme park attraction?

The Zamperla Volare is literally an iron maiden on rails. Those Chance Toboggan things aren't much better. Notable shoutout to S&S 4D coasters too - contraptions designed for pure misery. The only reason I wouldn't actually include them in a "sadistic" list, is because they're actually...
