Nagashima Spa Land names new RMC

Nagashima, Kuwana, Mie, Japan

Nagashima Spa Land has named the RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction) I-Box track conversion of the park’s former White Cyclone wooden coaster Hakugei, which translates to White Whale. The steel hybrid coaster is scheduled to open in March 2019 and will feature a 180.4 foot (55m) 80° drop and three inversions. Click the headline for more information

Space World reaches final frontier

After operating just over a quarter century, Space World theme park opened its gates for the last time today. Thousands of fans lined up as early as 4 a.m. to attend the final day of operations with a New Year’s Eve fireworks display scheduled before officially closing its doors at 2 a.m. Monday. The park, known for its iconic Venus GP roller coaster that featured a full scale model of NASA’s Space Shuttle, opened on April 22, 1990 on the Nippon Steel grounds. White Cyclone to get RMC conversion

Nagashima Spa Land announced that the park’s iconic White Cyclone wooden roller coaster will close on January 28, 2018 to undergo RMC’s I-Box steel track treatment before reopening in Spring 2019. Rocky Mountain Construction specialize in converting classic wooden coasters into new steel hybrid coasters, with many examples already operating in the United States of America. This is the first RMC Iron Horse conversion outside of the USA and only their second project abroad following the opening of Wildfire in Sweden last year. Click the headline for more information
