Six Flags announces 2019 attractions

Six Flags announced the lineup of new attractions coming to each of the the chain’s parks in 2019. Ranging from roller coasters to water slides to new kiddie areas with family friendly rides, this is by far the largest group of new additions the chain has made due to the acquisition of five new properties earlier this year. Great Adventure opens Cyborg Cyber Spin

Six Flags Great Adventure Park President John Winkler opened Cyborg Cyber Spin, the park’s new ABC Rides’ Tourbillion triple axis spinning attraction. This first-of-its-kind in America ride stands some 67 feet (20.5m) tall as the free rotating 24 passenger gondola spins riders around at forces up to 3.5 Gs. Six Flag Park President Changes

A carousel of park presidential changes is taking place at Six Flags parks following the promotion of Bonnie Sherman Weber, who is joining the Six Flags corporate team in Texas. Succeeding her as park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain is Neal Thurman, who had been the park president of Six Flags Great Adventure. Taking over for Thurman is John Winkler, who most recently served as park president of Six Flags New England. Winkler, in turn, is being succeeded by Peter Carmichael, who was the park president of Six Flags St. Louis. Click the headline for more information

Zumanjaro to get VR experience

Six Flags Great Adventure announced that Zumanjaro, the world’s tallest and fastest drop tower, will become Drop of Doom VR for a limited time. Beginning May 5th, riders will have the option of battling giant spiders high above massive city skyscrapers in a fully-integrated virtual reality experience on the 415 foot (126m) tall free fall tower.
Park guests will become pilots of a futuristic gunship under attack by mutant spiders during the interactive ride that features a vertical ascent while teetering off the edge of a helicopter. A high-intensity gun battle against a giant arachnid, spewing baby spiders that virtually crawl all over the rider’s body, is followed by a 10-second plunge at speeds up to 90 mph (145 km/h) that concludes in a final showdown with the giant spider.
