Dollywood clears land for future expansion

Huge tracts of land are being cleared in Dollywood, the largest amusement park in Tennessee. Forest has been cut down and the terrain leveled in a substantial area in the center of the park, on a hill which has not previously been developed. Dollywood has not issued a press release yet, and it is believed that developments will not be ready until after the 2018 season. Click the headline for more information

Dollywood escapes wildfire damage

High winds and extreme drought conditions sparked wildfires in the Great Smoky Mountains surrounding Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but Dollywood theme park, its Splash Country water park and DreamMore Resort were spared any damage.
Overnight staff evacuated families staying in 50 of the resort’s rooms and 19 of the park’s Smoky Mountain Cabins, some of which were damaged or destroyed by the fires.

Dollywood announce new 2017 rides

Dollywood has unveiled three new attractions for the 2017 season. Opening in Summer 2017 is Drop Line, a 200-foot tall free-fall drop tower in the Timber Canyon area and provides an incredible view of the park before its exhilarating finish. Coaster lovers can look forward to Whistle Punk Chaser, a new junior coaster also opening in Summer 2017. Dollywood’s Splash Country’s newest attraction, TailSpin Racer, will have unique spiraling, high-speed AquaTubes races to a splashdown finish.
