After 23 years, Pleasure Island Family Theme Park has closed its gates for what is, most likely, the last time. In September the park announced that the park was no longer commercially viable and it would close after a firework spectacular. 5,500 guests packed out the park for its final day on Saturday 29th October. Owner Melanie Wood told the Grimsby Telegraph, “It is sad to see it closing but nice to see so many people. People have said how sad it is to see it closing. But it has not been enough. This is a lovely end to a long and happy time here at Pleasure Island.”
The onsite bar will remain open but the future of the theme park site, including the three roller coasters, is uncertain.
