Hi there! Just wanted to clarify what counts as a solo ride? Is it when you're the only rider in your row/car/train or when you're the only one in your party on the coaster?

Hi - happy to help. :)

Solo means you're the only rider in the entire train. Only eligible for rides which seat four or more riders (so no solo points for an alpine coaster that only has one seat!).

Can we have the June topic, please?
I have a bad habit of forgetting if I don't post as soon as I get back from a park! :)

Sorry, I closed the May one but forgot to open the June one!

    Done.

Quick Question: Is the UK one country/state or separate? @HeartlineCoaster has seemingly gained points for going "abroad" into Wales from England. Not complaining as such but since I'm Welsh, will be good to know in future for my ventures into England.

(I realise he/she specified England as home country rather than UK like me. If that makes the difference, I shall have to remember to specify Wales next year!

Those that put "England" as their country were entered into the spreadsheet as "UK", so you don't get abroad points for anything in England/Wales/Scotland/N-Ireland. That would just be silly. :p

I just checked and I haven't given him those points for his submissions in September - unless you're referring to a different submission? Happy to go back and correct if I've missed something.

For what it's worth, I'm currently drafting up some thoughts about how to change the abroad/continent points next year based on the distance between a member's "home" (I'd ask for city only) and the park. Calculated based on the great circle distance, then converted in to the bonus points somehow (the bit I've not quite settled on yet). Need to try and make sure that doesn't become too much trouble to input, but over the last couple of years I've got a pretty big latitude-longitude database of parks, so it should be doable!

Worth a shot eh. I'd argue it's no worse than counting a different state, but you're the boss.

I've got an Oakwood in July if that needs double checking.

Nah, states are plenty bigger than the UK. London to Oakwood ain't like NYC to SFMM. ;)

Checked the Oakwood points, sadly you're being deducted 10! Shouldn't matter, you're well in the lead. ;) This is why I'm thinking of changing the system up, though, won't be any mistakes if I can make it all formula driven. :p

That's the extreme example though, there's plenty of parks inside 4 hours of a state line, and what happens at Carowinds? ;)

New idea sounds pretty spot on. Formulas all the way.

Awesome, Thanks. Didn't actually re-calculate the points but saw the Yes to going abroad so wanted to double check with you.
