On the map it says that the new ride will be on the old corkscrew site. Why would they put that there when the theme for that ride is over yonder in the park?

Yes. Going on roller coasters and rides for me is all about pushing yourself to the limit and this is near it. I find it quite suprising that some people don't like it.

I saw Raptor in a book I had when I was about 7 and always wanted to go on it, and got on it 10 years later. Always been determined to get where I want so the waits are never too long. It will be a big wait until Tokyo DisneySea though I'm afraid.

Just as people are saying, it's because the G Force is being held for longer, so it feels more forceful. I read that astronauts experience 3G. It's because it's held for such a long time that the astronauts needs training, etc. So 3G isn't really a weak force.
