    Coronavirus: Impact on Theme Parks

Phantasialand near Cologne confirmed closure today, as of now, until April 19th. The province of North Rhine Westphalia, where it is located, has the largest number of infections in Germany, which just passed 3000. The cities of Colmar and Mulhouse, in Alsace, eastern France and in vicinity of...

Phantasialand has confirmed closure of park, Fantissima and (indicated) hotels until April 19th. https://www.phantasialand.de/en/theme-park/information-and-arrival/current-information-to-the-coronavirus/ However, due to the rapidly deteriorating situation all over Europe, with Spain and parts...

It would also be awesome if they could build right over the autobahn, either parking or attractions. This wouldn't consume more space from nature, especially no reserves, would actually reduce noise for neighbours. But it would be more costly, to have tunnel security measures, access for...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

The proportions of the hotel look much better now, without the fence, but it's still way too bulky and bleak. So I expect more details to come. On the other side, I'm really happy that they announce to fix Crazy Bats, hopefully meaning: the conveyor belt and automatic sanitation of the VR...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

I wouldn't worry too much about the ugly look of the hotel now. It reminds me a bit of the construction of a huge mosque in Cologne. During construction, the huge concrete dome looked like a nuclear power plant, but later, it looked much better...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

I just came to worry about this rather old image again: (from the scan of Rookburgh Gazette) For quite long, I thought this was a zeppelin, popping out of the clouds, until I looked closer and noticed that it looks unlike any zeppelin/airship I've ever seen. Hooks or exhaust pipes at the end...

I don't think the new entrance to Rookburgh/Hotel Charles Lindbergh will be a solid, opaque wall, but a steel-glass cathedral. Perhaps reminiscent of Cologne central station. With the F.L.Y. tracks still visible, as well as it's trains passing by.

Talking about conspiracy theories: did you notice the symbol above the Rookburgh gate between Maus au Chocolat and guest service in Berlin? It looks like the freemasonic square-and-compass symbol, but also resembles pliers and nails. Charles Lindbergh was a freemason. Rookburgh might also...

Crazy Bats VR Coaster - Phantasialand

In my opinion, when visiting for Crazy Bats, it's better to wait a few weeks, until the initial problems are solved. Except if you have a club card and can't lose an entrance fee. It is still immature, with occasional slow processing, downtimes, and frequent, broken auto-focus in the VR glasses...

Crazy Bats VR Coaster - Phantasialand

Just what has been proposed in forums a million times, in now 18 years. Past tense anyway. I am waiting to know if VR riders will still see the station anymore, with the old airport tower, or if PHL do it like with Valerian in Europa Park, VR walk-on (I only know the video from there). Don't...

Crazy Bats VR Coaster - Phantasialand

Maybe confusion... I thought to remember some time, that the Temple had a kind of illuminated christmas tree in the hall. Most likely a confusion with Höllenblitz, a mobile dark coaster operating at funfairs (and an actual example how the Temple could have looked better).

Crazy Bats VR Coaster - Phantasialand

The non-VR ride is going to be in complete darkness, just like the temple before. No physical theming during the ride. A bit disappointing, and it seems they have fundamental problems to add any theming in the hall - even if they wanted to restore Space Center, they couldn't. I didn't expect a...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

Overall, Phantasialand have been lucky with their Vekomas, or managed to get good quality. Temple of the Night Hawk/Crazy Bats/Space Center is smooth, and Colorado Adventure is also good to ride, perhaps except for the front car/locomotive (I hurt myself once there, and read similar from...

Crazy Bats VR Coaster - Phantasialand

A temple theme would have fit great, if there had been one. But alone the building, futuristic style, made of corrugated metal sheets, was a problem. The outside queue looked quite acceptable, but once inside, it was a space facility spray-painted in dirty green, stripped of most decorations. As...

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

I noticed on Friday afternoon, when looking through the upper right peephole at the model, which has been marked with a red arrow some time ago, that there are huge letters "Tor 2", "Gate 2", in the upper right background, behind the launcher and right of the wing symbols. Tor 1 is already known...
