Efteling to remove Swiss Bob

Kaatsheuvel, North Brabant, Netherlands

October 9, 2018 – Efteling confirmed the removal of Bob, the theme park’s Intamin Swiss Bob coaster, toward the end of the 2019 season to make room for a new 15 million Euro ($17.3 million) Mack Rides duel family coaster called Max & Moritz in 2020. Bob, which has been operating since April 4, 1985 and will undergo demolition next September, has been down due to technical issues for over three months and is scheduled to re-open on October 18, 2018.

Other than a minimum ride height of 39 inches (1m) and the concept art pictured above, no further details have been released about the new coaster coming in 2020. Max & Moritz is a German illustrated story by Wilhelm Busch about two young pranksters that remains as popular today as it was when first published in 1865 and the current Alpine themed station will remain for the new addition.

The park had originally hoped to open a new themed area near the Vogel Rock coaster in 2020, but planning permission delays pushed that project back a year and moved the Bob replacement forward.
