During the company’s Q1 2017 earnings conference call, Cedar Fair CEO Matt Ouimet announced that the theme park chain will be adding four new roller coasters for the 2018 season.
“While we are laser-focused on 2017, construction has already begun on multiple high-impact attractions that will come online in 2018,” Ouimet said. “As we look to build on Cedar Fair’s history, we will be adding to our collection of world-class coasters, including a completely new type of coaster, a dramatic transformation of two of our historical wooden coasters, and a renewed relationship with a manufacturer who we haven’t worked with in recent history, that will add another coaster and deepen our pool of ride manufacturers.”
While we already know that Mean Streak at Cedar Point and Hurler at Kings Dominion are getting Rocky Mountain Construction Iron Horse conversions from wood to steel, speculation is running rife as to what the new type of coaster will be, which manufacturer he’s referring to and which parks will get those two new coasters.
